And equally caring for children and elderly parents is one of the steps in order for men to have any credibility at all when it comes to passing judgment about women. Step up or shut up. |
Yeah it can. Those people who sign up need the job. |
|
Women will have to meet the same physical standards as men to be slated for many combat jobs. Many women are perfectly capable of meeting these standards, but probably not 50%.
Presently, there are different male and female physical standards to serve in the military at all. Many combat jobs have a different, higher standard for applicants to meet. The standards are set to take into account the demands of the job. The safety of everyone in the unit depends on everyone in the unit having the physical abilities necessary. Whether you are male or female, for instance, you may have to pick up and carry the heaviest man in the unit and get him to safety. Have you seen the pictures of the women at Ranger school? They are tough and cool, but I wouldn't say that most women could do what those women can do. Yes, many more can and will be trained to successfully compete for the toughest combat roles, but it will not be 50%. |
Who says women can't?

+1! |
With the epidemics of overweight and obesity, neither gender measures up. Only a microminority of each could qualify for the toughest jobs. Look around at millennials: most of them are as heavy as 40-50 year olds already. It will only get worse unless the culture changes. Weight standards alone would not and should not serve to exclude women under today's culture. Let them qualify if they can pass the tests. |
You can't be serious. Comparing caring for children and elderly to being forced to go to a war field and lose your life. I know what I would choose anytime. One is elective, one is forced. |
+1! |
| People, you are pissing me off. Both males and females. I'm sick of you trying to turn feminism into some kind of nonsensical idea of fluid genders. Fuck that. |
|
So where would you move if a draft is implemented?
Would US territories be part of a draft? Puerto Rico? St. Thomas? |
People(women included) elected him and the congress authorized the use of force. So yes if you want to be excluded from the draft maybe you should take on a secondary citizenship and not be allowed to vote, elect representives or influence when the men of the country go to war. If a male does not want to be drafted, he runs to Canada, fills a non combat role(think combat medic) or goes to jail. If a women does not want to be drafted, there are no consequences? |
| Who has influence on when men go to war? I most certainly don't. My ability to participate in the circus called elections does not affect this in any way, shape, or form! |
|
Well you should not have the vote. You are not willing to defend the country, but send others to fight for you? Why should you have any say when force should and should not be used?
Serving in the military has never been a reason to keep any person from voting. I'm assuming the MEN who can't serve for various reasons shouldn't be allowed to vote? Our country barely gets anyone to vote as it is we shouldn't be eliminating people! Plus, are you saying you would take away the vote of your Mom, Aunts, cousins and grandmothers because they didn't register ( weren't allowed to) or serve in the military? You are Cray-cray! And sexists too IMHO |
| If women can serve in the Israeli army, and both genders are required to do so, American women can participate in the selective service. This is called true equality. |

And the White House is going to weigh changes to the draft! True equality awaits! |
