Bachelorette Kaitlyn - NO SPOILERS

Reality Steve has said that Bachelorette typically travels to fewer international destinations than Bachelor. But he even appears shocked at US to Ireland and then hanging out in Ireland for an extended period.

These shows always begin with bizarre, odd, humiliating group dates. So the first few episodes of Kaitlyn's season have been on par with past seasons in my opinion.

Hm, I've been watching since Ben's season and I don't recall that many humiliating dates in prior seasons - I think it was the boxing match (in which head shots were allowed - why!?!) back to back with the cheeky wrestling that made me feel like that was one too many. I recall there being one uber embarrassing one and usually a couple episodes later there's an obstacle course of some sort that allows some candidates who might not otherwise get the spotlight for personality to excel. But no obstacle course this season and instead, plenty of embarrassing and one even dangerous activity. I don't really blame Kaitlyn for that though, because I don't think she has full say in what the group date activities are.

Is it true that there's less traveling during the Bachelorette seasons? I thought there were a few int'l destinations for Des and for Andi. This is the first time I remember the group just lingering around in one country outside the US.

There have been boxing dates before. Even female boxing dates on Bachelor. With Chris S., the girls walked down a busy public street in their bikinis or similar and cowboy boots after doing some sort of "tractor racing".

With Emily Maynard, the men had to do a Shakespeare performance (Romeo and Juliet), including dressing as Juliet.

With Desiree, the men had to do a "Mr. Bachelorette" competition.

With Andi, they had a "stripper themed" event and also group singing (Boys II Men).

According to Wiki, Desiree and Andi's seasons both visited 3 countries (for 3 weeks) before hometowns. I've honestly lost count on what week of "dates" they are on because of how they keep continuing one week to the next. At least 2 weeks in Ireland (Dublin, Kilarney).

Evidently, the Bachelorette has fewer episodes than Bachelor, so theoretically, they will need to have fewer destinations.

From what I've read, Kaitlyn has no vote in the group date activities. It's whatever the producers come up with. By her contract, she must go along with them.

I think Britt thinks that pretending to be madly in love with that guy (who very clearly seems gay) makes he seem like less of a loser. But all of it makes her seem like a loser. Just bowing out gracefully and pursuing a real life interest would have been better.

But sadly her "real life interest" living in Hollywood, is to be famous, so she is pursuing that, by whatever means she can. I know its a yawn but its true.

So Bachelorette fans, is tonight the night of mass weeping?

Shawn is bound to cry a bit once he's done yelling at Nick.

I think they'll finish up the fantasy suite dates, have a rose ceremony - in which the 3rd guy will go home but no real heart break yet, then we'll get to see at least one of the home town dates.

That much today? I'm officially psyched.

That's just my guess No spoilers, I haven't read any, but yes I think they have a lot to cover and the men tell all should be up next after this.

Can someone explain why everyone hates Nick? I didn't watch his season with Andi, but from what I understand, all he did wrong was ask in the after-the-rose taping why she 'made love' with him if she didn't really love him. Why is that such a crazy thing to ask? Doesn't everyone know they slept together anyway if they stayed in the fantasy suite? Let me know what I'm missing about what a villain he is, because I don't think he's that bad of a guy from what I've seen. Shawn's the one looking dumb being so hot and bothered.

+1 don't get the Nick hate either, but I didn't watch much of Andi's season (but did catch the ATFR and loved it when he called her out!)

On Andi's season, Nick was very calculating on how to "win" the dating contest. He was arrogant, obnoxious, etc. He would brood and pout whenever he was on a group date. He would be one way with Andi and another with the guys.

With Kaitlyn, he has been less of a villain. However, the fact that he entered after the humiliating group dates and with some sort of prior relationship (which, according to Internet chatter, was more than Nick and Kaitlyn described, but more like sexting) definitely set a lot of the guys off. Especially Shawn.

So the producers have played up the big Nick vs. Shawn rivalry / showdown and could not be happier with the final two.

You'd really have to had seen Andi's season to appreciate Nick's personality.

I watched Andi's season and I think Nick's just not the kinda guy who shines in the spotlight. He's awkward and gets stand-offish when not in his element and some people read that as arrogant. There was a dramatic scene with the other guys on Andi's seasons ganging up on him, claiming that he's one way in the house (arrogant & stand-offish) and another with Andi (warm & affectionate), but my take is that those are genuine different sides of his personality. I don't think he was putting on an act. He felt confident in what he had with Andi because he was one of her top picks. He knew that. The other guys knew that. There was nothing fake about his confidence and I didn't feel like he was trying to rub it in anyone's face. He was just quietly confident and didn't feel the need to engage in gossip. He's also not great in group settings, so doesn't come off favorably in group dates. Neither would I. That doesn't automatically discount everything he says in a one-on-one setting.

I think he gets a bad rap, rather undeservedly so, as he just seems like a normal guy to me. I don't think he's exceptionally wonderful, but I certainly don't think he deserves the villain rep either. There were plenty of other villains on this season anyway.

Every year someone gets accused of the bolded and I don't understand it. You're (supposed to be) there to make a romantic connection with someone not to make BFFs with the other contestants.

Unless you are JJ and Clint, in which you don't care about the girl but only your bro.

I do think it is unfair to let somebody on the show that priorly knew Kaitlyn when all the other guys had to start off by seeing each other for the first time and knowing nothing about them. That's the fun of the bachelor shows.
It is a different dynamic to invite people on a reality show who you've only texted/sexted and see if the dynamic is there in person. I hope the network learned their lesson that it made a lot of people mad to bring on somebody who wasn't even in the running.

I don't see Kaitlyn and Nick having a long-lasting marraige relationship, but maybe a year of an intense relationship before moving on. I was sad to see several of the guys go- the dentist cupcake guy, and both Bens, and even the restaurant dude with the pointy chin was such a nice one in the end. I felt bad for him.

So who do you think will be elected for the next Bachelor? I think one of the Bens. Or maybe Shawn if he doesn't get picked.
