To make the audience at home laugh, or their dogs driving them nuts?

Place your bets, how long will Shawn and Kaitlyn last?

I actually think they'll be together for a long time. Not sure about marriage. I really loved Kaitlyn, but not so much the guy selection. I hope they change it up next time, maybe bring in someone completely new... maybe someone non-white for once, or do it in real time or something. Maybe they could follow them for a bit in the "real world." I thought last night was a disappointment (not that I have high expectations to begin with). Kaitlyn seemed weird toward Nick, almost cold. I thought it was a little bizarre, it's gotta be awkward though.

I was actually happy with the ending - when Nick stepped out first (we all know what that means) I actually said "yeah!" He's so smarmy and I never saw anything genuine in him like I did with Shawn. I think Shawn is a decent guy and I hope this lasts. Kaitlyn grew on me - I didn't like her at first, but she actually seems fairly cool.

I also thought it was interesting she didn't wear a bathing suit all season - a first!

I didn't watch all of the episodes, but last night I thought she looked so bloated in her dress.

You didn't think she could be pregnant, or just fat and happy?

My guess is that there were dogs going bonkers nearby. When did the dogs' barking begin? I did not notice it until Nick was in the middle of his speech. At that point, production clearly knew they had to keep going because they were not getting a second chance to re-film anything!

Some thoughts on the final night -

I don't like that she let him get the whole speech out. They had a pact of sorts and I think she should have honored that. I saw the article where she said that because of all the rule-breaking earlier in the season, they didn't give her the leeway to get out of two proposals, but I think she could have spoken first when he came to the mansion.

I also thought Nick handled the rejection really well and honestly - clearly she didn't feel the same, so not fair to claim otherwise. He also handled himself well in the ATFR. I wish Chris H hadn't interrupted him so much - both with the Shawn interview (why did that happen?) and with Kaitlyn.

I'd actually love a season with Nick as bachelor over Ben H. Only the live audience seems into Ben and that's because they're cued to cheer for him.

I agree the interrupting was annoying throughout the ATFR ep. That said, I wouldn't like Nick as th bachelor. Somehow he never seems genuine to me.

I didn't like the feeling of Shawn and Kaitlyn in how they were almost mocking toward Nick. It almost feels as if Kaitlyn never had anything with Nick; I guess she and Shawn have certainly moved beyond that time, and it'd be foolish/confusing if Kaitlyn came across as still showing/having feelings for Nick. I agree with an earlier comment that Nick handled himself well on that finale. Though I also felt a bit badly for him; once again, Shawn strongly got the floor, again coming across as being justified at not trusting 'the other guy,' and Nick once again had a tough time getting thoughts through.

I agree with this too. I'm not a Nick fan, but he did handle himself well on the finale.

If you read Reality Steve, he has said that the lead is always strongly encouraged (manipulated) to let the "runner up" spill their beans, make some bold profession of love, etc. and then "stop him when you get just too uncomfortable." So she stopped him when he started to reach in his pocket.

The purpose of the Nick/Shawn "interview" on AFTR was just to keep the "rivalry" going. BORING. But Chris H. had hinted in the days prior to AFTR that he'd love to see a Nick/Shawn "reunion" at AFTR.

I can't take any more of Nick on the Bachelor/Bachelorette, but I could handle him on Bach in Paradise. But he's more than had his 15 minutes of fame.

A bit random, but I'm just totally skeeved out by Reality Steve. I visited his blog once and he's such a stalker of the show. He's obsessed. He's been sued yet persists. He stalks all the contestants and begs them to break their contracts, telling them that they're un-enforceable. And talk about a conflict of interest - Reality Steve is in no position to give legal advice to these people.

I just think he's mentally off to be this obsessed with spoiling a show like the Bachelor, and hiring legal counsel to defend his "rights" to continue stalking people like this. Has he no life? Nothing else to write about? He couldn't get a job at a normal gossip magazine?

For those of you who keep quoting him and reading his blog, why? I felt really gross just visiting the site even once.
