Patricia Arquette's Oscar Speech on Wage Inequality...

Oh, and she won Best Actress for Silver Linings Playbook

She was married to that nut Nicholas Cage. She's dumb as shit.

I'll never get why people put actors up on high like they do because they sure don't give a damn about you.

BTW, met Nicholas Cage last year. He's nuts. And bald. And a drunk.

Methinks she should shut up and act.

Then, she should move to Pakistan and enjoy the unlimited freedom she has as a woman.

Loved it! And love the attention and focus it has gotten. Change is on the way.

I'm certain that Patricia Arquette refused her "swag bag" that is worth 100k. Likely, she donated the full amount of its value to a womyn-centered cause or perhaps NOW.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt had millions at a time when those millions would be billions now. He still spoke up for the 99.99% of Americans who needed help. Did you find that humorous too?

I find it humorous that she could have insisted on a much lesser salary and had the balance distributed amongst those who worked on the film. Speaking out seems to be what liberals do to make themselves seem more important and to make themselves feel better.

You are confusing the issue. Everyone making an equal wage regardless of the work performed is communism. No one is advocating that. Patricia Arquette, and other intelligent people, are advocating for equal pay for equal work. So if I am a female CEO, or attorney, or doctor, or engineer, or designer, or writer or actress - I should be paid equally to an equally qualified man. WTF do you not understand about this issue?

Not pp but took the comment to mean that PA could have evened the discrepancies from her own paycheck. Of course, this isn't a feasible solution and it wouldn't solve anything outside of that one project.

Don't you think, if this was as huge an issue as portrayed, American companies would only hire women to increase their profit margin? Given, y'know, how greedy they are and all

It's kind of ridiculous for actors to speak on this issue, beyond their insanely inflated salaries. What exactly qualifies a person to make $30 million a picture? And could you determine that a man and a woman have those same, measurable qualities and therefore deserve the same salary?

On the other hand, if I have certifications x, y, and z and I've been working 15 years in my field with excellent reviews, I should certainly be paid the same as a man who has identical qualifications.

This is why I roll my eyes at Hollywood trying to effect change in the lives of the little people.

They must not be too intelligent if they are “advocating” for this. After all, it is the law for men and women who do equal work to get equal pay.
If someone believes they have been discriminated against, they should pursue legal options.

Equal pay is fine, just be prepared for equal treatment. No paid maternity leave and no guarantee your job will be here waiting for you if you take a few weeks off, fair?

A man could not demand that time off, why can a woman?

No, because sexism and racism are, by definition, irrational.
