Neighbor parking in front of house

Anonymous wrote:OP here. (This is my first post in a few pages.) My neighbor does have a garage and driveway. I imagine that they don't want the car in front of their house because their house is beautiful and their car a clunker. Not that I care about that, but the car in front of their house may not present their desired image.

Right now I don't care, but we are about to redo our front yard landscaping. It will be annoying to spend a lot on that and then not be able to see it.

A car parked in front of your house will block people's view of the yard from the street, but it won't block your view of it from your driveway or house.

I care because I don't want cars in front of my house that do not need to be there. Because I do not want to look out of my house and staire at my neighbors cars. Because I do not want my kids, who play ball in my front yard to hit their cars by accident. Because I like to have that space available for guests who visit.

Again, are you really that dense? And I wouldn't ask them why they parked in front of my house because that isn't the point. The point is why don't they park in front of their own house. See the difference?

Geez, I hope the next time someone does anything to annoy you, you say to yourself. "Self, get over it. People can be rude. Whatever is legal to do is ok to do."

By the way, I am not the OP of this post, I just someone who I aware enough to realize that if I can avoid bring rude and entitled, I should avoid being that way.

Yes, actually, that is what I do.

Hey OP -- when you are getting your landscaping done, have the company leave its garbage container in front of their house. Or, have the company drop off the supplies on the street in front of their house. You could always tell them this is your plan unless they move their car.

Well at least you don't have to ask yourself why people don't like you.

People don't like me because I accept that people who are not me, over whose behavior I have no control, do rude things? Well, ok.

People who lack common consideration usually lack common sense, also. You know if you piss off your neighbor with little things, they will piss you off with much, much bigger later. Can't you be grown up and harmonious, rather than start trouble?

My neighbor across the street from my driveway has his own driveway (that is in the shape of a P and can fit 3 SUVs easily) and three car garage. He lives there with his wife, they two of them own 7 cars, not a typo. They refuse to park any one of their 7 cars in their driveway or their garage. EVER. so they park it directly across from my driveway and all along the street (the street only has parking on one side, the other side is "No Parking" signs by the city because it is so narrow. We've lived here for 5 years, we have politely asked them to not park it in front of our driveway and explained why and they said yes but never ever have. The reason I can't stand that they do this is because it is so difficult for me to turn right or left out of my driveway to go ANYWHERE without coming super close to hitting their cars. I have to do a 3 point turn practically every time I leave. And there is no where for me to park on the street, or for a visitor to park on the street, because their 7 cars take up the majority of the on street parking. It is really incredible.

If you're in FFX County, cars aren't allowed to park within 10 feet of the driveway apron. A county zoning inspector told me about this when we were having problems with boarding houses in the neighborhood. Whenever one of their cars was parked within 10 feet of our driveway apron, I'd call the police non-emergency number and they'd send a police officer out and ticket it. We still had them parking in front of our house but at least we could easily get in/out of the driveway. Cars also must be parked in the direction traffic is flowing. One guy got 3 tickets in one weekend. You'd think he'd learn to park the right direction after the first ticket.

Would this bother you? Isn't it weird? I'm thinking of asking them why they do it, the next time I catch them. What would you say to them?

Do you need the space in front of your house? Do they have a garage?

This. Or, dump the stuff right in front of their parked car. Don't tell them this is your plan.

+1

What an arsehole. I guarantee OP's camp isn't the only people who think that.

Seriously? You do not get why, in a suburban area with plenty of parking, this is not considered rude? Are you always this dense?

People, just because something is legal doesn't mean it isn't rude.

OP, say something. If they don't listen/care, then when the weather warms up, starting parking in front of their house till they get the point.

Why do you care if the neighbor parks in front of your house, if you are in a suburban area with plenty of parking, and you have your own driveway and garage?

Because I do. Why can't they park in front of their own house? Or, a better question is, why won't they?

But why do you care? What difference does it make to you? And if you asked them, "Why do you park in front of my house?" and they answered, "Because [reason]." then what?

"I know you are but what am I?" Really? Get over yourself and think long term. I know you are stupid, but payback is hell.

As a kid I hated it when the neighbors parked in front of out house instead of in their driveway because then we had to worry about hitting their car with balls and frisbee when we played in the front yard. I would suggest that you let them know that this could be an issue because they may actually care about their car getting dented.

If it does get dented once, or twice, or three or more times - just play stupid - like the neighbor does when they park in front of your house.

Those of you who don 't see the problem or don't care must live in the sorts of neighborhoods where there are a preponderance of cars parked in the streets anyway, or where the houses are close together. If you lived in an area where there are no cars on the streets, and the houses are farther apart, you'd find it annoying too to have a stranger's car parked in front of your house.

Yes, in the spring when you mulch you can order a truck load of bulk mulch, the kind with cow shit, and dump it in the empty spot in front of their house and wheelbarrow it over as needed. Don't say anything. It's cheaper than the bags too.

Why? Because you have to look at it?
