So after your husband said something, did the neighbor stop parking so close? |
|
My old neighbor did the same thing. I never said anything but a few times I parked in front of his house just to show him how it feels.
I didn't like looking at him car when I looked out my living room window. |

Yes, they did! They still park between our houses but much closer to their own house now so that we can park in front of our house. DH is still annoyed that they don't park in front of their own house but I tell him we'll get our revenge. Their youngest kid is 8 years older than our oldest. She'll be out of th ehouse by the time our oldest gets his license. Within 3 years, we'll have three kids with drivers' licenses and the kids' car will need to be parked 'somewhere'.

this. Cannot fathom being bothered unless it interfered with where I wanted to park. |
| I think it's incredibly rude and discourteous. There is street parking (actually permit only so you can't really say it's public parking, right?) on my street and nobody would ever do what you've described, esp if there's space in front of their own home. I find your neighbor's behavior odd too because if my car isn't parked in front of my house I feel like it's vulnerable. That's just me, though. |

Sorry you live next to low class hoodlums. Park in front of their house.
I pray they move. |
| That's definitely weird. I always feel bad when I have to park in front of the neighbors house on those rare occasions (company, street construction, swim meets since we live in front of the neighborhood pool). I can't imagine doing this on purpose or longterm with no good reason or at least not without discussing it with the neighbor. |
| My neighbors always park in front of my home. I don't get it. We all have 2 car garages. I haven't figured out why they can't park in front of their own home or in their garage. The idiots who park their big trucks/SUVs on the street and BLOCK it so I don't have enough room to pass by and get to my garage irritate me more though. What kind of idiot blocks the road? Why are people so stupid and inconsiderate these days? |
| OP, park your car in front of your house. For while. To reclaim your territory. |

Our neighbors do this too. To be fair, there is a no parking sign blocking off most of the area directly outside their house , but they have a 2 car garage and they have 2 cars. This is actually a prevalent problem in our neighborhood. People are using their garages as storage and parking on their driveways (sometimes blocking the sidewalks) or on the street.
I don't get it. We moved to a SFH for many reasons, but a big one was having an attached 2 car garage so we could, you know, actually park in the garage. Do people really have that much stuff that they'd rather get into a cold/hot car or have to clean it off in snowy weather rather than just get rid of some of their stuff so they can park in their garage? |

OP, I have neighbors who do the same thing. They've lived in the neighborhood longer than us and feel entitled. Now we always park in front of our house with the cars spaced so that no one can park in between.
Things finally improved when we started parking in front of their house whenever they parked in front of ours. It is extremely rude behavior and annoying. I like the idea of leaving the trash and recycling cans there!! Great advice. |
| We have neighbors that sort of do this. They pull off the road and ride about 10-feet through our yard leaving tire marks and then park their huge ass pickup truck half in our yard half in theirs. Then if anyone else shows up, which happens several times a week, they park behind the truck instead of in front of it. They might have four cars parked on the street with an empty driveway. |
| Our neighbors always did this until we had a baby. I then asked if they would leave the spot in front of our sidewalk open. |
