Delaware for example, where this incident occurred, the Age of Consent was 7 in 1895. Yes, only 7.

Strange how quickly morals can change.

Our society is slowly beginning to value children. That's why morals change.

"Rape is hilarious" is really worth a view.

Wow, she apparently used her son to get to this 15 year old:

"After the victim replied thank you in a private message through Instagram, Shattuck's son sent the victim his mother's cell phone number, saying, "You should text my Mom, she is obsessed with you," according to court records."

That is messed up.

A lot depends on the maturity of the teenager. All 15-16 year olds are not the same.

Not according to the law it doesn't. Would you be OK with your 15 year old sleeping with a 47 year old?

are you actually saying the 15 year old somehow is at fault here?

no, don't be obtuse. I'm just saying that physical and emotional development can vary tremendously at that age. It is an interesting case. What if she was 22 and he was 15? What if she was 19 and he was 15?

She would not be interested in a 15 year old in any of those cases.

For those saying that there's nothing wrong with a 47 year old woman seducing a 15 year old boy, here's another way to think about it: Would you be ok if this happened to your son? Or, for those with daughters, would you want your teenage daughter to date this boy now?

Another way to look at it is to think what would your feelings be if the 47 year old was a man seducing your 15 year old son?

And obviously there are millions of examples of 19 year olds with 15 year olds. or 22 year olds with 15 year olds. Statutory rape is "rape" because we deem the victims too immature to give true consent. It does not mean the criminal is a pedophile.

Setting aside the age for a moment (which is just terrible!), what mother would date her child's friend? I don't think I would date my son's friends if they were in their 30s. Clearly, this family has no boundaries.

That's just cruel. The boy was raped. So, you're saying he's damaged goods now and isn't "datable"? You're mean.

If it was a 15 year old girl and a 47 year old man, you would throw the "physical and emotional development can vary tremendously" line out the window.
