It's not a boy or girl thing. It's a moral question. At what age can two post puberty consensual humans have sex? From a moral perspective there is no right or wrong answer. Obviously from a current law perspective there is. But laws and morals are two different things. Which is obvious from the fast differences across civilization in age of consent laws.

To the above PP. Yes, I can understand a 15 year old consenting and even an adult woman being attracted to a kid, particularly if the boy is mature, well built and attractive. HOWEVER, thinking about and acting upon it are two VERY DIFFERENT things. No adult in their right mind would actually do it. It's illegal and sick.

Easy for you to say this, now that you are an adult.

When I was 15, I had sex with a woman in her mid 40s. A couple of my best friends knew it was happening and egged me on because she was, as you describe "smoking hot". She was a teacher in my school and I was her hand-picked "student helper".

Fast forward to today. I'm in my mid 40s, married for over 15 years to a very trusting wife, yet I have MAJOR trust issues. Counseling has helped, but it's clear that I am damaged goods. Every professional I've seen trace my issues back to those experiences when I was 15. I so wish she had left me alone and let me "jerk off in my socks", as you say.

She was sentenced today. She will spend every other weekend in jail for 2 years. To me that seems too lenient.

Indeed. Swap out "mom" for "dad" in this instance and victim being "daughter's 15 year old friend" and I don't think every other weekend would have been the result.

I agree that a man would have likely been given a tougher sentence. However, this woman has two little kids (elementary school age) and now she is a sex offender. She can't host playdates, go to school events, host a birthday party, etc. Although the incarceration may seem trivial, she will be living with the consequences of her actions for the next 25 years!!
