Chipotle headache

Anonymous
I get ridiculous headaches and feel exhausted every when i eat chipotle. I usually get a burrito with black beans, all salsas, cheese and lettuce some times I'll add chicken as well. This never happens when I consume those ingredients in a home made meal, I eat beans, lettuce, tomatoes, a ton of cheese, corn etc on regular basis without any problems. They must be adding some kind of food additives that are sketchy. I don't think it's the sodium or MSG (unless there is a ton of it) since I'll eat both of those in home made food without issues. Salsas are probably the biggest question mark who knows what kind of stuff the put in it.

It's the guilt from your engagement in cultural appropriation.

For me it's the sodium. I have high blood pressure that is normally well controlled with medication. Chipotle spikes my blood pressure and causes headaches matter how careful I try to be. Not sure what they do to their food. It doesn't happen at Moe's.

After their issues with contamination, they've started having more food prepared off site. It turns out that it's really hard to consistently enforce hygiene standards at thousands of stores. My guess is that they've started adding MSG to the food prepared off site. I'd be particularly suspicious of the salsas.

Doubt it. More likely the salt.

And rice. I bet there's lots of salt in the rice. I've seen them pour in a cloudy liquid into the big bowl of rice when they prepare it which I figured was some type of salt and flavor.

Ummmm, that's lime juice...

This. Chipotle sends my BP through the roof and gives me an awful headache. This for me is absolutely a salt thing.

Meat in particular. At Chipotle, the issue is their grilled( charred) meat, not msg. The other thing that is a sure shot migraine trigger is their sofritas( sofritos?) burrito. I don't know what they add there, - horrid migraines.

I do get MSg related headaches, from Chinese food and anything Chik fil a that is fried, also

Avoid food with nitrites, preservatives and colors for the same reason.

Good god you sound high maintenance.

having food sensitivity is high maintenance?

Calling the char on grilled food a sort of food poisoning makes you sound high maintenance.

And crazy.

I have long known that there’s something in Chipotle that gives me a whopping headache. Manufacturers are clever, they’ve made a ton of other names for what amounts to MSG.

http://www.hungryforchange.tv/article/sneaky-names-for-msg-check-your-labels

Basically, the FDA says you only have to list MSG as an ingredient if the source is 99% MSG.

There is definitely some sneaky form of MSG in their food masquerading as something else. And there’s a lot of it. I can get away with Top Ramen, it’s only when I eat something that has a ton of MSG that I have the following symptoms: I think it’s the best thing I’ve ever tasted and wonder why I haven’t tried said food before, decide I’m eating it every day for the rest of my life, then end up with one of the worst migraines I’ve ever had.

Whatever they’ve decided to call it, it’s got a ton of MSG in it.
