How so you know though that there was MSG in the food?

Are you ASALT-ED by it?

Huh? Huh?!

It is the Char in the meat which is actually a form of food poisoning, believe it or not. . I get a headache immediately with super grilled foods for the same reason. Meat in particular. At Chipotle, the issue is their grilled( charred) meat, not msg. The other thing that is a sure shot migraine trigger is their sofritas( sofritos?) burrito. I don't know what they add there, - horrid migraines.

I do get MSg related headaches, from Chinese food and anything Chik fil a that is fried, also

Avoid food with nitrites, preservatives and colors for the same reason.

Does this happen to anyone else? Any idea on what might be causing this?

Do you eat the guacamole? The only thing at Chipotle that gives me a headache is the guac and I am not sure why.

Calling the char on grilled food a sort of food poisoning makes you sound high maintenance.

i gotten headaches that last for a few days when I've eaten at chipotle. I typed in an internet search " chipotle food headache" and got this forum. If any other answers come up i'd like to know. what i ate a chipotle was a salad composed of lettuce, Pico de gallo (mild sauce) chicken and guacamole no dressing just some fresh squeezed lemon juice. I've gotten the same headache in a couple of other occasions when I've eaten soy sauce in chinese food which probably has MSG and also eating Plantain bananas and salted meats like cold cuts etc. In my research ( not an expert) Ive come up with something call Tyramine or tyrosine which in my understanding is an amino acid that develops in aged foods and some others things like bananas and other foods.

if anyone can share anymore insight i would appreciate it.

Thanks,

Jay

Some say that avocados and limes can trigger migraines, and the guac has both.

Read Heal Your Headache by Buccholz. He's a neurologist at Hopkins. He goes in depth about food triggers and gives a list of potential triggers. If your headaches are interfering with your life he has an elimination diet you can try. This can identify your personal food triggers, but the diet is extremely limiting and difficult to maintain.

Everything you have listed above is on his trigger list.

I am a Chipoltle employee who gets migranes from the food on occasion. Although there is no msg the tortillas have sulfides that are known to trigger migranes, and the amount of salt we put in all of the food is ridiculous. Try asking for plain rice instead of the rice in the line, and instead of a ton of salsa just get tobasco. That will help cut down on salt. Also the meats are masserated in Adobo which could be it, so maybe get a veggie bowl. Sometimes the chips get over salted, so stay away from that too.

Blood pressure spike.

Haven't read through the responses, but I'm sure others have said the same thing. When I used to eat it when I was pregnant, would send my BP so high, I had to lay down and go to sleep. I could actually feel my blood pressure elevate. Only at it 2xs to figure it out. A BP spike will make you feel like hell.
