Am I the only parent with a high IQ child who does not care to scramble for the best schools?

Most of my PR skills were learned by observing ministers.

Good luck with your child, but I have to say that I disagree with your assessment about why you are the person you are today.

Is there any hope for this discussion?

The heart of the problem may have been highlighted by a previous poster, who mourned the fact that we are doomed never to reach consensus. But why must we reach consensus on every issue? That rarely happens in the adult world.

It would be nice if this forum could serve as a place where people come to share their very different, but always authentic, experiences. Instead, several posters have had judgement heaped upon them. A previous poster who said she knew kids who "survived" public school got called all sorts of names and had to defend her kid's intelligence. The most current poster, who provided a fairly upbeat assessment of how she got where she is today, gets told that she lacks self-knowledge.

So, can't we just share our different experiences? If people who disagree always get beaten up, then we risk looking like a bunch of petulant toddlers....
