My household sleeps until 8am. A kindergartner, 2nd grader and WAH m. DH leaves at 9am-works until 7-7:30. On the weekends it can b 9am. 6:3o is ungodly and there is a noise ordinance until 7:30 where I live. Not Op. |
Not that I'd hear the basketball through the ongoing construction noise in my neighborhood. Going on 4 years--additions, year downs, renovations. I'd welcome just basketballs for a change. |
| I get up at 5 a.m., but I don't want my children and DH awakened until 7 when breakfast is ready. Children playing loudly in the yard? No way. |
| I think it's great they're playing outside early. If your kids wake up early, just put them to bed earlier. |
Are you saying they start working at 6 30 am? If they are, you have a legitimate reason to complain. Noise ordinances are in place for the reason. OP, I'm with you - you should try and settle the issue once and for all. And for the poster who lived in Warsaw - this is America, lady, and people should be following laws that clearly state that no noise should be made that early in the morning. |
| I agree with those who suggest that you replace your windows. If the kids are bouncing balls against your walls you can complain, but otherwise, just be a good neighbor. Your young children probably bother the teenagers on weekends. |
|
Go outside: "Sweetie, we are still asleep at this hour, can you hold off until at least 7:30/8a? We would really appreciate it -- it's just louder than you think" Problem solved -- not quantum physics. |
Great idea! I have a spare $20,000 lying around. I'll do that. |
It needn't be that expensive, but if you're really short of money you can probably find noise-reducing window treatments. If you complain about the neighbors' kids, they'll complain about yours. Tit for tat. |
| Get over it and get a couple of white noise fans if you're in such a tizzy. |
|
We sleep in until around 8 here. Elementary school doesn't start until 9:15, DH has a 10 minute commute, and 4 yo is in afternoon preschool. And the 1 year old happily sleeps until 8.
Is the teenager goofing around waiting for the school bus to arrive? B/c otherwise I can't imagine a teenager outside for any other reason at 630 a.m. |

Rude rude rude. |
+1. Get your kid a jump rope, or a hamster wheel. Have him sweat to the oldies inside your own home. |
Please, no condescending BS. Being a good neighbor starts with not making disturbing noise in public areas before 7am, at the earliest. |
