The cops wouldn't even respond. If they did, they would either be really annoyed, or laugh their asses off depending on what type of day they are having.

I was thinking the same thing. If OP does do something, I hope she posts so we know what kind of reaction she got.

OP here. Some interesting perspectives. Thanks DCUM! To clarify, they're not waiting for a bus and they are also loud and shouty. My DDs window is 30ft from where the hoop is, so it's loud. I'm totally happy with them getting exercise and fresh air, but I guess what I wanted to gauge was how early is too early. As another PP said, there is no clear consensus on that. I have calmed down, and have taken on board all the arguments for and against. I'll see I this is a long term thing and talk to the parents if it continues.

IME, they would respond ONCE. They would also make it clear that if you do not like the ball playing, you should march yourself over to the neighboor and address it diplomatically.

Just talk to the parents, OP, they prob. have no idea that their neighbors can hear the ball (and they kids' voices).

So the kids should not be allowed to talk either? LOL!

Actually they would for a noise violation. Sorry!

No, they shouldn't, at least not loudly. There are noise ordinances. I'm sure that you aren't allowed to produce noice at 6:30am, if you were, then you would hear companies mowing lawns that early.

No they wouldn't. They might "respond". And they might assure you that they'll talk to the "offending family". But what they'll actually do is head over to the neighbors house and apologize to them for bothering them. They might sit down and have a cup of coffee with the neighbors and laugh about what an asshole you are.

I promise you. This is how it goes.

In DC our trash truck comes at 6:30...... That's the earliest one can disrupt a neighborhood. Construction workers can start at the time and end at 7pm.

So...that means I should walk out to the bus stop near my house and tell the kids waiting for the bus that they should keep quiet and not talk and laugh? LOL!

Right....and they would make sure that the neighbor knew it was you that called about a bouncing ball.

What hours do you work that you can sleep until 7:30?

We live in a place with a noise ordinance. After 7 am for this type of play would be fine.

Anonymous wrote:OP really? 6:30?? My DD is at the bus stop of 6:30. I've had my first cup of coffee already. DH is in the shower and DS is starting to wake up.

on a weekend - I could understand your frustration but on a weekday?

Your poor angels are still asleep and you don't want to wake them up? Stop coddling them, and stop with the entitled attitude. You don't live on a deserted island - you live in a major metropolitan area. if quiet is what you seek, go live on a 5 acre plot of land! Oh but wait, that would mean you would live in the - EEEEK! SUBURBS! cant have that now can we?

As a mom of a child who needs to exercise in the morning due to his ADHD, if he chose to shoot hoops in OUR driveway at 6:30am I would welcome it! And if you as my neighbor came to me to complain, I would ask you to spend 20 mins with my DS while he is struggling to do his HW and focus because he has not expended enough energy and his serotonin levels are out of whack.

enough said....go back to bed.

You are just nasty and bitter.

No more so than OP or you for that matter. I'm speaking the truth as I see it. DC is full of entitled pricks....and I was born and raised here!!!

In fact, you sound like a prime example of entitled prick.
