Yes, if you want to give me one more reason to want to have dogs banned and cause me to seethe every time I see any of my neighbors walk their dog on my street, go ahead and sneak poops in to my trash can. I liked dogs until I became a homeowner. |
Thanks for describing the only two options that some dog owners will consider. |
Homeowner times 3 here, I do not see an issue with it. |

Trash at curb and not picked up, you better believe it.
Trash picked up, then no. And I only say that b/c I know it pisses people off. Though I don't understand why. It's trash. You're not eating in or on the trash can. You put rotting food, tampons, bloody band-aids, and any other numerous disgusting objects in it. But, whatever. People have their heads up their asses about this topic. And, it's simply not a battle I'm willing to have. |
The difference is that it is our household trash. Take your trash, in this case poop, back to your household. I'm guessing you don't want bagged soiled diapers or used tampons dropped off in your trash can. And fwiw, dog poop smells far worse than just about anything in the trashcan. The smell lingers. Gross. |
Another fallacious argument. As if those are the only two options? |

| No way, throw it in your own. Do you want me to throw my kid's random dirty diaper in yours? Our pick up only takes large bags so if we miss it, it sits in their festering for weeks and its nasty. We buy our own cans so they are our property. Don't be lazy. Your dog, your poop, your can! |
NO, YOU ASSHOLE. |
+1 Exactly. Throw your poop in my trash, and the DC trash collectors will NOT throw it out. Instead, it sits at the bottom of my can, foul, stinky and germ-filled. Bring it back to YOUR OWN HOUSE. |
|
But I am not letting my kids poop in your yard, on your sidewalk or in your garden and just leaving it there. Nor do I let my kids hump your leg or sniff your crouch when we bump into you on the sidewalk. I also don't dump my kids poopy diapers into your empty trashcan, for you to store for me until your garbage picks up next week. Perhaps I should

| I went for a run yesterday, and watched a stop along the side of the street, step out of her car, and gingerly remove a bag of dog poop. She then proceeded to cross the street and slowly walk past each house, presumably looking for a trash can. I found her behavior very odd and wondered why the hell she couldn't just drive home with her little baggie. Honestly, why place it in an unsuspecting someone's trash can, far away from her home? |

Someone has been doing this at my house/trash can.
Perhaps they don't realize that the garbage collectors grab the big garbage bag out of my trash bin and the dog poop bag (being so small) falls to the bottom (and is left in the trash bin). Then we roll the bin into our garage and find that the stink is someone's dog poop --- and we don't have a dog. It's beyond rude to use someone else's trash can for your dog's poop. Put it in your own trash can. It's baffling to me that anyone thinks it is o.k. to do this. |
