| Of course this is not okay. |
+1 - generally. I also have a neighbor who is mean to her elderly next door neighbor. I usually put the poo in her trash on principle. |
I have a dog, and getting the poop to an acceptable (= not someone else's trash can) location is the pet owner's responsibility. If the only options you can think of are leaving it and tossing it in someone else's trash, you are not bright enough to have a pet. |
Spite is not a principle, FYI. |
This. Please don't do it. |
|
I'm in the burbs. It is not OK to put your dog poo or any other trash in someone else's garbage can. My garbage cans are my property. You don't get to put stuff in them without asking.
It's YOUR responsibility. Carry with you until you get to a public trash can or your own trash can. |
If you really had ever spent any time whatsoever in the residential parts of AU Park, Chevy Chase, Spring Valley, Cleveland Park, etc etc etc etc, you would know there are almost NO trash cans on residential streets. |
| This Q has come up on here a few times before. The answer has always been a resounding no. |
| No, please don't. We've had people do it and like the PPs mentioned I have to go into the trash can and fish it out because the trash guys only take the big bags out. Personally, I don't like handling poop (which is why we don't have a dog!), so please don't leave your dog's poop in my trash. |
| Not a dog owner here. Yesterday I picked up some poo that someone else had left it in the alley and put it into the nearest trashcan I could fine (which was not mine.) Do I get an exception if I'm picking up poo of some animal that is not mine? |
| I don't put my kids' diaper blowouts in your can. Don't put your doggie doo in mine. |
|
NO
Someone did this while our bin was out after collecting in NWDC. We didn't see it and the racoons got into it and it was all over. Smelled disgusting and we had to clean it out. PLEASE take it home to trash. Our yard is toilet enough. But, thanks for asking. |
NP here. Goes to show you that there's more than one part of NW DC. DCUMs so often assume we all hole up in UpperNW with our families. OP, I think dog owners should take great pains to ensure that no one else needs to have physical contact with their animals or anything that comes out of them. I guess I don't really care what anyone does in the dumpster behind my building, but if I were responsible for maintaining an individual can, I'd be upset about the addition of poop smell to the olfactory mix. |
This is another good point. All of the dog poop in our neighborhood (Adams Morgan seems to have especially assholish dog people) is a generous gift to the rats-- and would attract any kind of urban/suburban wildlife there may be in any neighborhood. |
Ummm, OP the only people who say to do this are the people who are doing it. |
