You're not the oldest. 60+ here.

Am horrified to print that I've been on here NINE years.

Hey! I was going to post wondering if I'm the only one left who's been here since before there were forums and it was only an email list. I'm also 45 and have been on DCUM since 2001. Back then it was an open email list and I found it googling about DC daycares while pregnant. Then the list serve grew and Jeff and Maria made it so that you had to log in, then the forums appeared and my addiction intensified. I've been with DCUM through many changes, lol!

I'm on here all the time, even though I gave up on all other parenting forums years ago. This is my main source for local info of all sorts/keeping a finger on the pulse of DC area craziness. And I'm not ashamed of it...

I don't participate in the snarking and trolling that's become more prevalent in the last few years, but when I'm bored I'm happy for the entertainment.

Where does their info come from?

There is embeded javascript in each page for Quantcast and Google Analytics that gathers data for usage analysis. Google Analytics doesn't have a way to make the data public or I'd be happy to share that as well.

Does that mean their data is based on IP address registrations?

The IP address is probably part of the equation, but not the registration. IP address registrations are done by ISPs and businesses, not by individuals.
