Also: creeped out by the quantcast info. hello brave new world. We're not anonymous.

Any way to get rid of the script?

I could easily remove it from this site, but that would only deprive me of data about our users. The vast majority of the sites you visit use Quantcast or a similar service (often a lot more invasive). You are actually still anonymous. Quantcast provides aggregate information about our users. You are one of many 39 year olds, but nobody knows which 39 year old, that uses DCUM.

Quantcast data is obviously wrong since the avg household income of DCUMers is $250k. Sheesh. That datum might up the ad rates.

I'm not suggesting you remove it - it's just one of many things to find startling about the internet and one site removing it won't do anything. I'm not really worried about the companies who USE the data, but a bit troubled (maybe because I do not understand it) about the companies who collect the info. If they can find out how old I am, then they must know other info, they can put it all together and build a picture of me pretty quickly - and they say they're doing it in the aggregate but is there a protection against non-scrubbed data? That is what I mean by we're not actually anonymous; not suggesting that you were de-anonymizing us.

if you are worried about being tracked there are excellent browser plugins to deter that. http://www.ghostery.com/about

The worst offenders is cnn.com

43. I would be interested to know the ages of posters of various threads, especially some of the more high strung ones.

I agree with this! Every time people go berserk over thank you notes, I assume 50 and over.

Oh, I was thinking the opposite. People on general parenting flipping out over tiny details about their kid's food, clothes, etc=I always assume around 30, no kids over age 3 or 4.
