This may be true but it is still unreasonable. And there is no reason for it to come with the territory. Its unacceptable wherever it occurs.


That's no reason not to vent in a DCUM thread, jeez. And I am betting you are paid a lot more take the crap from your clients than any of the teachers on this thread are.

I don't teach. Never have, never will. The only teachers in my extended family have been full professors, which I think we can agree is totally different. I've been a guest teacher a few times at the university level myself (I'm in research, have been a guest teacher at Princeton and GMU) and even that was exhausting.

But here's the rub: you don't teach either. Pretty sure you lack both the altruism and stamina that are necessary to teach.



Congratulations on your research, however if your teachers had been better you might have learned somewhere along the way that if one ever hopes to win a Nobel Prize for their research they should use more definitive terms than saying they are "pretty sure". While we're at it today, can you share any other tidbits of wisdom in which you are pretty sure about today.

No ... not at all, they are simply aware you are adding no content to the dialog beyond being a self-appointed score keeper. You are a score keeper not a commentator. You add no value to the dialog beyond being a cheerleader. If you have nothing to add to the dialog why bother making believe you are participating? Stop phoning it in! If you are not going to participate - stay home!

Researcher here. My kids' MCPCs teachers never relied on off-the-shelf assessments, ambiguously worded or otherwise. We tried private for a few years and left after the "social studies" teacher who told us during the patent conference that she didn't like social studies so she was going to teach haiku for six weeks instead. So I'm not saying teachers are perfect. I am saying it's wrong to generalize, about either public or private teachers. I respect them all.


This is the PP. I wasn't generalizing, I was relating my own experience.
That said, it is clear there is a large range in quality among private schools.
