Please stop giving your suburban friends DC guest parking passes

Nice naming calling too. Very grown-up.

But if you're a nanny, it's A-OK!!!!!!

You guys are SUCH idiots. The whole point with the nannies is that an employer who lives in the city can give their nanny their permit so that they won't get ticketed. The OP is talking about people who give their friends who work in an office their permits so that they don't have to pay for a real parking spot. HUGE difference. The nanny thing is the whole point of having the visitor permit. The friend thing is abuse of that.

this is strictly myob territory.

OP, you need to reassess. What is it that is bothering you? Clearly it has nothing to do with the persons parking on a public street. Is your lawn involved? Your driveway? Your landscaping? Something you paid for out of pocket? It is not directly "in your face" space. I suppose it would be different in the suburbs, where it is less crowded and far more deliberate.

It has to do with your missing something, perhaps in your marriage or career. I say this in the nicest possible way. You need to learn when to say when. I firmly believe you are going to piss off the wrong person sometime very soon.
You will not win. Even if there was a law, is this something you want to start with your neighbors? If you are old enough to be on DCUM, presumably you have children, is this what you want to teach them? Seriously? You need to choose your battles, and teach your children the same.

But stalking strangers (and especially neighbors)? Not cool. At all. Talk yourself off the ledge or have someone you know or pay to know put it in perspective for you. Nothing about this sounds right.

If you are smart enough, you can set your cameras on your car to record. OP will never know.

Don't you just love it when the armchair psychiatrists begin with the diagnoses? Parking is at a premium in the District. Do it legally or get ticketed. Better yet, take Metro or Metrobus.

I think the limit is thirty days in a row b/c you are suppose to get your out of state tags changed to DC and if you are parking for thirty days in a row, it's obvious you live in DC and are not visiting. So parking enforcement will give you a warning, no ticket, and after a wk? they will start ticketing, guest pass or not.

I do wish they would. I live in a neighborhood near a Metro and parking is always tight. If those people couldn't park in my neighborhood and had to take Metro or drive and pay to park, it would be better.

But believe me, all of you who do this don't bother me that much. People will always game the system when they can. You are just mad that OP has pointed out that you are a cheat and you cannot deny it so you attack. I guess that's what you are teaching your children.

Is it really cheating if someone who legitimately has the pass gives it to a friend. Why is that friend not the "guest" of the person who legitimately owns it? I agree on selling them, but I'm not sure giving them away to friends is really against the law. It's not really any different than giving it to a nanny. Presumably, each house gets a certain number to use as they see fit (aside from something illegal like selling it).

I don't have a dog in this fight as I pay for a parking space, but I don't really agree. If someone doesn't have a nanny are they supposed to just throw their pass away?

OP by any chance did you have an altercation with a handicapped person when you confronted her about not looking handicapped? LOL

There are, of course, more friendly ways to retaliate. A tire deflation device (sold at Pep Boys) is quick and effective. Of course, then you may find the new Benny driver (with her scammed parking pass) having to park a little longer than she anticipated....

Tire deflating device? Just use a screwdriver on the valve--works like charm. Anyone with out of state plates who consistently parks in front of my house in Tenleytown has definitely had to deal with a deflated tire. GTFO.

I'm PP and I'm a NP here--I'll put anyone reading this on notice that all it takes for your tire to be deflated is just not to live on my block in Tenelytown. Keep parking in front of my house on a daily basis--better bring a pump! Or a spare tire...

That isn't the law. It isn't hard to find it out. If you are domiciled in DC you have to register your car within 30 days. There is no law which says you can only park in DC for 30 days before you have to register your car or will start gettin tickets.

Though I bet OP wishes there was.

OP makes no sense, but doesn't realize it. Clearly she is not a lawyer.

If they see you using the guest pass for thirty days in a row and at all times of the day, you'll get a warning. If don't get your car registered by a certain time, the warnings will turn into tickets.

OPs wishing people would do what she wants does not make it so. Grow up, OP. I would totally take a photo of you vandalizing anyone's car, BTW.
