| I understand the family posts, as we help our families. But it is much better than being up their a$$es for money, that is for sure! |
|
I'd also accept the money through a blind trust.
Buy a house. Pay off houses for all parental and in-law units. Set aside enough for retirement and college savings. And then put a personal trainer on retainer, buy a Birkin, and take off on vacation. |
|
Give it away.
Philosophically, I wonder what it would be like to walk away from all that? |
|
I think the winner will come on Saturday. Can't imagine the jackpot going higher than $500M.
I don't even want to fantasize about what I'd do. I get WAY too worked up when I play the lottery. It really gets quite insane...I'm convinced I will win.

If possible, I wouldn't tell anyone.
Here's what I would spend the money on: A house on the beach. Travel. Send random $ to people who have helped me throughout my life (thanks to original poster for this great idea). Give money to charity. Specifically, set up a fund so no woman in the United States ever has to spend a dime for an abortion. |
|
The odds are only 1 in 175 million, so I'm currently buying 175 million tickets so I'll be sure to win.
Anyone have $175 million I can borrow? |
I don't think this would go over too well with the natives. Especially if you're white. |
You might have to share it with him as it is income during the marriage. Kick him to the curb now before you win! |
It's enough money to share. |
| Is it more than 100 million? If so, I would keep that and donate the rest to Planned Parenthood. If it is less I would like to keep 50m and donate the rest. If it is less than 50m I would keep it all, set a trust fund to pay for college for my children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, plus a house for each. Then I would travel around the word and enjoy life - and would leave all that is left to planned parenthood after I die. |
...it's 500 million. How's that rock you live under?

For those wondering about annuity vs lump sum, taxes nd what you'd take home at the end of the day, here is a great site with a breakdown:

What is the future value of the lump sum payout after 26 years? Siigh never paid attention in finance class... |
If you had to split the jackpot with another winner, even only one, you'd be eating quite a loss. |
Yup. |
