Yes pp! I did not even think about that. I bet you are exactly right about that. If she was drunk and high, there is no way life insurance will pay it out. I still dont understand why and how the husband and the other family (of the men who were killed) think they can sue and win against the Hance's? They had nothing to do with it. Just because Diane was driving their car has in no way shape or form contributed to the accident. |
well if it was their car, then it was their car insurance. only deep pockets left. Though the PI attorney who took that case is a dirtbag. |
i don't see why no one makes the distinction between a drinker who might have had some alcohol numb pain and the amount of alcohol this woman had in her system. it was enough to cause delirium, blackouts, etc. someone said the equivalent of 10-12 vodka drinks. that's not just a 'closeted alcoholic' especially when, by all accounts, she was a devoted mom. there's something else going on here. i'm wondering if the pot could have been laced with pcp or something, causing her to have a psychotic break, chug the alcohol, etc. |
sorry, i meant 'to numb the pain' |
No not necessarily. My insurance covers liability of others driving my car. But I see your point. |
wouldn't PCP be found in the autopsy? 10-12 drinks is a ton, but we are talking over a period of three hours. The only explanation that makes ANY sense to me (and perhaps a stretch) is that she left the camp sober, then stopped at the gas station for some pain medication because her tooth was bothering her. They didn't have any, so she drank a shot of vodka to dull the pain and also pulled over to catch a buzz. The combination of the pot and the vodka hit her hard, and she kept drinking not realizing she was getting hammered. Then after a few hours she essentially passed out while she was driving. Wish the 8 year old had just grabbed the steering wheel ... |
that is what I wrote (or intended to). The Nance family owned the van, so it would be the Nance insurance. |
Yes, PCP would have shown up in the autopsy. It still comes down to the fact she was way over the limit drunk and high.
I say if it looks like a duck and walks like a duck, then it is a duck. I don't get where people are thinking she was a closet lesbian? That didn't seem to come across in the documentary. She did come across as a control-freak, tightly wound and intensely private. Plus married to someone who was a "third child" -- and that's coming from his mother! Not something I would brag about if I were his parent, but to each their own. Her friends also stated she smoked pot regularly to help her sleep. This is not a person who was afraid to partake of alcohol or drugs. She was self-medicating. |
Wrong. She never passed out. Thats the insanity of it all. All the witnessess say she was upright holding the wheel looking straight ahead as she blasted the wrong way through on coming traffic. She did not swerve did not let up on the gas or break. She drove straight in the lane speeding and was up for it all. She did not appear to be slumnped over unconcious. She might have been blacked out but she was not passed out. |
I am not this poster but:
If people show you who they are, believe them. |
ok, I meant blacked-out not passed out. I have been so drunk that I made a complete ass of myself with NO memory of it the next day. Scary stuff. She was self-medicating and it got out of control. Strange story. Very sad for the four little girls. |
I think the PP u quoted essentially meant "blacked out" and not physically passed out. Basically when you drink that much your mind can completely check out but your body can keep going. It really is like a state of delirium as another PP said. |
In some states, the owner of the vehicle has liability or is a necessary party in order to get at insurance. |
Got ya. Just wanted to clarify- did not mean to come off negatively. |
Seriously? This just doesn't happen. PCP would cost more and is harder to obtain. No one would waste PCP, just to see what would happen to some unsuspecting buyer. You have no idea what you're talking about. |
