Non random poll: What is your educational background, and what is your income?

I had a lot of issues my last year of high school and stopped going the last semester of my senior year. Income hit $120K last year. I'll finish school at some point but I haven't been able to fit it in with such a hectic home/work life.

No offense but what do you do? No HS degree and that much...if not your own business that is impressive! Well impressive in any case actually

Me too. We're a two income household and make $125,000. My husband is a teacher and makes $60,000 and hasn't had a raise in 3 years. The only thing that makes this bearable is the thought that his retirement will be something we can depend on. But according to the Republicans, teachers (and other public workers) are living in the lap of luxury and don't deserve their "cushy" retirement plans.

sorry to hear your rant

But the public doesn't care - especially many on this board.

Don't expect steps and raises this year either. We're at the bottom of the barrel b/c of public perception, and no one gives a s - - t. Hopefully your career will take off!

Wow, is DH a partner at a law firm?

Yes, he is. We are very, very fortunate financially. Likely won't last forever, but we're really happy to be able to save a lot right now.

I'm sure Amy Light's practice in Potomac pulls in that much or more. Anyone know?

Sales. It took 3 years to get over the $100K mark but there are plenty of folks in the $250K range so I'm only expecting it to get better. It is high pressure and very stressful at times though.

DH, BA from crappy state school, 200-300K plus $$$ from helping take a company public.

Many of the people we know who have made it really big have BAs from no-name schools and just have the personality or drive to succeed in business, or they have been lucky to be at the right place at the right time. It is a shame from my point of view because my teens are on to this reality and don't understand why I tell them to study hard to go to a good college so that they will have an opportunity to study great things and develop their intellects. They'd rather have what they perceive as the "good life" (material success) than a life of the mind. Sigh.

Us too completely understand what you are saying
