Non random poll: What is your educational background, and what is your income?

They think that those who "have things" i.e.: house/s paid for, old cars paid for, etc. have not *sacrificed* and/or have no hardships and/or are not helping others out that take most of their money?! Boy, are they stupid! And they wonder why they don't have as much as they *think* the next guy does?! It is so obvious and so very unbecoming. It seems the majority of this area, and it can be quite a downer. Actually, it seems the purpose of this post. Yet more ammo to feel entitled to what they *think* the next guy has. Yet another reason to try to justify being so GD judgmental. Yes, I'm annoyed. No, I should not be as it is truly their loss. Some people want it all an have NO idea how to get it. And that's my problem? HURL!

I think we should also be stating how long we've been out of undergrad. There is a huge age range which often impacts the disparity in income. I'm posted a high income for my DH (I sah) and I should have stated that he's been working for 20 years. 10 years ago our income, even with 2 salaries, was much lower.

Yeah age inclusion would help. In 10 yrs my salary will be very different.

Me too. We're a two income household and make $125,000. My husband is a teacher and makes $60,000 and hasn't had a raise in 3 years. The only thing that makes this bearable is the thought that his retirement will be something we can depend on. But according to the Republicans, teachers (and other public workers) are living in the lap of luxury and don't deserve their "cushy" retirement plans.

This is college dropout here. I wish OP would have added to her question:

Are you happy with what you have?

My answer is yes, and I'm on the low end of the salary range here. I wonder if those with more are the same folks posting on the down and out on 250K post?

Me, undergrad, grad, and law degrees from top schools. SAHM.

DH, BA from crappy state school, 200-300K plus $$$ from helping take a company public.

Many of the people we know who have made it really big have BAs from no-name schools and just have the personality or drive to succeed in business, or they have been lucky to be at the right place at the right time. It is a shame from my point of view because my teens are on to this reality and don't understand why I tell them to study hard to go to a good college so that they will have an opportunity to study great things and develop their intellects. They'd rather have what they perceive as the "good life" (material success) than a life of the mind. Sigh.
