I know, right? Chicago is a solid top 20 school by any measure. I'd be thrilled to have kids getting into Chicago. The parsing of rankings seem more appropriate for business and law schools. And Chicago does very well there too. It's a good school. But private high school parents are going to do their thing. So you get sorority group think. |
| It has a better brand but is on its way to becoming BU. |
These are two groups of people. |
U Chicago sent my child invitations to apply every other week. Because of all their junk mail, my child did not apply. |
I am not sure what this means. BU has never had a comparable reputation or prestige. BU's low admissions rate is based on the popularity the city and the appeal if this kind of urban campus to some kids. It has some standout programs that are a draw. But it has never been a powerhouse. |

ED1,ED2, ... ED100, a ton of brochures and letters sent (my kid received at lest 10 this year). Now they want to increase the number of students.
Hmm, something odd with UChicago nowadays. |
Envy, jealousy, and racists brainwashed by right wing media slop. City of Chicago crime/corruption and Obama smears have been trafficked by Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, and right wing social media bots for two decades. Obama and Michelle are famously linked to UChicago and his presidential library is just east of campus. |
Who are you kidding? You can’t afford UChicago. I wish your kid well at UMBC. |
Miserable middle class strivers rage at things they (and their children) can’t get access to and can’t afford. Same reason the private school forum here is full of seething public school parents. Same reason the real estate forum is full of seething proles who live in shacks and townhomes mocking so-called McMansions they can’t afford. See also country club discourse. |
We're full pay at Yale. So I'm not a person with a kid who can't get in and can't afford. I think Chicago is a great school. I also think all the mailers are a turn off, as is ED0, as is accepting full pay kids off the waitlist before May 1. I think increasing class size is a good thing, more schools should do that. doubling the class size since 2010 to this new proposed size seems like a lot. looking at this chart and seeing where this new plan is going - more up and to the right - I wonder what it's all about https://registrar.uchicago.edu/data-reporting/historical-enrollment/ |
Hold up a mirror. Plenty of miserable private school parents and UMC and wealthy folks complaining about college admissions. |
|
| Honestly, all the schools in the T20 should do the same thing. These schools are too small in comparison to the amount of qualified applicants in the pool. |
Correct answer. Because they have to compare aid thus can't ED, they are particularly mad at UChicago. |
the math isn't mathing |
