??? I heard this many times at sports games, it wasn't a choice to hange around them, just luck of team assignments |
This is travel sports then? I don't know my kid plays travel soccer and no one is saying these things on the sidelines. If they are, don't sit with the other parents. Plenty of people do that. |
No, rec sports. I have met plenty of lovely families from all over Arlington sitting in the stands...and a handful of snobs. |
| I'm less interested in the tired WL/YHS/Wakefield argument. does anybody know if this teacher has legitimate complaints about the principal himself? |
| my kid had her for advisory for 4 years and I was floored by that speech. I don't have a strong opinion about dr clark but my kid really liked this teacher and in every interaction I've had with her she's been nothing but supportive. you could tell that she really loved her job. if she felt like she had to publicly speak, that tells me she feels very strongly about the situation, she's tried other avenues that haven't worked, and there IS a problem. I hope the board at least has a discussion with her to find out more |
Rec sports are organized by your school. You're sitting with the opponent's parents? A handful? You just said you've heard it many times. This is why the generalizations are a bad idea. |
Little league pulls from multiple schools |
|
can we just stay on track with the conversation? |
I think there is a prejudice because Wakefield is in LA, while WL is diverse as well. |
Boom. |
It's all relative however. W-L has more affluent white students than most FCPS schools. But in Arlington's cloistered world, the smugness (among a small group) is typically associated with Yorktown. FCPS parents at wealthy but more diverse schools like McLean and Langley see this attitude in the stands and other community events. |
Are you proud that you aren’t the only parent serving alcohol to minors |
Why would I do that? That's what the Shell Station is for genius. |
Langley is more diverse than Arlington high schools? |
