| What’s going on at YHS that a teacher blasted the principal at tonight’s school board meeting? |

FF til about 1:04 in, it’s the first public speaker. My kid is slated to go to YHS next year but now I’m wondering what it’s like there? |
| Did I hear her say she worked there until last June? I wonder why she waited almost an entire year to say something. |
Likely needed to ensure a better position in the system, or another, to reduce threat of retaliation. |

He took family leave after the birth of his child. I applaud him, but I knew there would be backlash. This country still can’t accept the idea of a man being a hands-on parent, or putting his family first.
And… they also removed the SROs from the schools, which I think might have a lot to do with her concerns about security. That is not his fault. |
| I am definitely concerned about his apparent aloofness and disconnection from staff and students. Four years to learn a teacher’s name? Also - if her stats on teacher vacancies is accurate, that’s a terrible sign. |
My daughter had her as a softball coach her 8th and 9th grade years, so she was definitely active outside of just her classroom. I didn’t hear of any problems with her or her causing drama - so 4 years to learn somebody’s name who’s doing more than the bare minimum? Agree that’s a disconnect, to say the least. And I looked up job postings among the 3 high schools and her stat holds up, so that’s accurate too. I’m inclined to believe what she says, so what IS going on at YHS? |

| He is the only principal to send a weekly HS email out to all families. I see him with his kids at every after school music and sporting event our family attends. Just one data point. |

Complaining that he took FMLA after the birth of his kid?
Wonder if she’s a mom, and if she is, if her husband took any leave. Parents can’t win in this country |
| from what I hear from my kids, he doesn't seem to be a particularly strong leader and not great with discipline. I know he took FMLA this year as other PPs have said. not sure if this teacher is salty about that, but I know he's been out of the building in years past during some major fights and my kids say they don't ever see him around during the day. they're teens though, so who knows if he's actually absent or they're just self absorbed |
Does your kid go searching for the principal every day? |
nope, which is why I said the bolded |
| The teacher who spoke noticed a trend of apathy following Covid – so weird! Must be the principal‘s fault! |
Yeah, the problem might be more pronounced at Yorktown because of how the population was before, but I work for APS and this is a trend at all of the schools, including the elementary schools |
