Most of us aren’t thinking that hard about Yorktown or WL or Wakefield or looking down on one or the other. We bought a house and it zoned to a school. Pros and cons to all schools.
My approach was always pay attention to YOUR child/children. Are they doing well? Have nice peers? Engaged in something at school that gives them a community? Applying themselves academically? Then you’re all good. If not, re-evaluate. As for the specifics about this principal, APS should look into it. However, how would some of you like it if any one person from your past could stand up publicly and comment on your work with no context and no further information and no chance to respond? Probably not much. |
I’m not going to come at you but I’m going to say the fact that your kid is in the rounds of the type of ass-hat kids who do this stuff is information for you. Which you likely ignore. |
Hahha good one. |
tell me more please |
well what do you think he should have done instead? it sounds like he diffused the situation and got the kids to class. sounds right to me. |
If you’re playing against an Arlington school, or just watching a game, you know that the Wakefield families are always far and away the nicest. |
It's demographics. There aren't many or any arrogant kids at Wakefield who feel superior due to wealth or status. While there certainly are wealthy kids at Wakefield, growing up in a more diverse environment can have a humbling effect. |
| What's interesting is that McLean and Langley families are a nice bunch in general, not unlike the Wakefield families at intra-district games and other community events. I too believe that the cultural diversity at the FCPS schools also creates a humbling experience. |
| Out of the 3 main HS almost every party I hear about where the Parents are at the house and have supplied the alcohol have been YHS parents. I know HS kids are going to drink i think its completely inappropriate to have parents supplying those drinks. |
if somebody stood up and commented on my past job history, they wouldn't be able to say that I was frequently absent or didn't know the names of my coworkers. |
It's because we have had years of people reacting in horror at sending our kids to SA elementary and middle schools. "Oh, does he see a lot of fights?!" It helps you develop a sense of humor. |
They wouldn't? Anyone can say anything they want about anyone. That's how life works. Not saying this woman isn't telling the truth but also who the hell knows. People are complicated. |
She is also telling her truth based on the informaton she knows and her experience. Sorry it's not a full picture and never is. |
Ok. The big teen drunk driving crash that happened about 18 months ago which killed a teenager, the parents supplying the alcohol to the teens involved was a W-L family known widely for having house parties for teens and supplying alcohol. This is a dumb game. Worry about your own kids. If people somehow think this stuff won't happen to them at one of the high schools, you're delusional. |
I have never heard anyone say that or react in horror. If you're hanging around this type of person, says something about you. |
