Common baby names you dislike

I agree with all the names listed here. I especially hate Addison because it's a disease that messes up a dog's kidneys and causes the dog to pee all over the house. My BFF's MIL moved in with them a few years ago after a nasty divorce and brought her PIA jack russell terrier who proceeded to pee all over the house. It drove my BFF crazy though she felt a little guilty once she learned the dog had Addison's disease and couldn't help his spontaneous peeing. Anyway whenever I hear Addison I automatically think "peeing dog."

Hee hee, that's my name! I like it well enough, but I can see why it's not super-popular.

We have a ton of "John" grandparents, great grandparents, uncles on both sides. Our son's given name is "John" to honor them--but his nickname is "Jack". This is common in Northeast/Irish communities-- ala JFK, JackNicholoson, etc.

He's 5 and I have been surprised that in every daycare, preschool we've been at...he's been the only "jack" in the class....not even a "jackson' which I despise by the way.

I don't mind it as a nickname, it just seemed that, all of a sudden, everyone was naming their kid "Jack" as their formal name.

I am the pp with the "John" nicknamed "Jack" and I couldn't agree with you more. "Jack" is not a formal name. However, I know somebody that had a last name that did not go well with "John" and they loved 'Jack' so they used it which I think is fine. It is becoming more common.

Explain to me how Declan and Maeve are hard to pronounce?

It does help. I love Irish names but only if your surname is Irish. I grew up with a very German surname and my brother named his child Riley. HATE IT! Similar to Riley Franzen. Sounds Ridiculous. Of course, my brother would never know.

Jack was my grandfather's name, not John. As we named son after him, we didn't see the need for a "John".

JFK also had Addison's disease and was actually on a lot of medication all throughout his presidency. I don't think he peed all over the White House, though. Jackie surely would never have put up with that.

I really, really dislike the Aiden, Cayden, Jayden, Hayden trend . . .
Also the "creative" spelling for Jackson, a la "Jaxon" or "Jaxson", of which I know 2.

But, to each his/her own. I'd never say so outright to the parent. Just nod and say "that's nice."

I know a Maxx...as in T.J.
Awful.

Ava, Mia, Gia, Eve, Eli, Ian. I don't like the 3 letter names. I also don't like Nate/Nathaniel/Nathan. Every Nate I have known has been whiney. There are lots of good names for boys in the top 15 that I never hear anymore. Christopher is cute. So is Andrew. And Ryan. Good names, still at the top of the lists, but everyone I know names their kids Jadyn or Brody. For girls I hear the top 10 over and over and it's revolting. The only name in the girls top 15 I can tolerate is Abigail/Abby. That's cute.

I don't like Owen or Evan. I know that makes me the outlier, but what do I know? I don't like granite countertops, either!
