Why is there so much hate for the south here?

It’s the state-sanctioned aspect that’s my main concern.

Can you please speak on the racism then?

It's racist there. What else is there to say? It's racist here, too, but the large educated Buppie community offsets it for me.

Because that’s where the majority of African slaves were used on plantations.

There was the great migration of black Americans to the north (they were fleeing Jim Crow laws) but not everyone could make the journey north and west. Educate yourself.

Examples would be helpful.

We're not.

Then stop electing racist MAGA cult members into office. It's really simple.

I didn't vote for them or Trump, just like you didn't and yet.

But I choose to live in an area where the majority of people don't vote for MAGA values. For a reason. You are willing to overlook it, which is fine, but don't be surprised if people judge you for it.

So we're now judging people's worth by Kamala Harris's share of the county in which they lived?

Come to think of it, she won Fulton County, GA by a wider margin than she won Fairfax County, and Montgomery County, Alabama by about the same margin. She won Travis County, TX by a much wider margin than Fairfax.

I'm not sure how you Fairfax County people sleep at night knowing you've chosen to surround yourselves with so many racist Trump voters, when you could easily move to Georgia, Alabama, or Texas to be around more right-thinking individuals like yourselves.

We think Fairfax County for their service because they’ve made it squarely purple and turning into blue soon.

They have to tolerate crazy politicians every other election to give us a blue state.

Alabama and Texas are not turning blue, not in my lifetime.

There are definitely Trumpy parts of VA that we avoid whenever possible.

The infestation gets worse the farther you go out.

You are quite ignorant, but maybe that's what you need to believe to feel better about living in a declining part of the country.

Bless your heart

doh

I'd be ok with the big metro areas like Atlanta or Raleigh/Durham, but not the rest of the state. I'm Asian American, in a biracial marriage. Not only do I want diversity, but I need my ethnic grocery stores.

Right now, I despise humid weather, but I know that as I get older, I'll want the warm/humid weather. So, we have talked about moving to maybe the Raleigh area when we are in our 60s/70s. That's about as south as I want to go.

Fellow Asian immigrant. I will follow you.

PP here.. someone who worked in the RTP once told me that RTP area is fine, but once you get out of that area, it's pretty racist. This is a white woman who grew in IL who told me this.

Don't live in VA and feel the same way here.

I grew up in Raleigh and the great things about it are: the weather, the music (in part because of the proximity to so many colleges and universities and all f their offerings), and how friendly the people are.

If you were as educated as you pretend, you’d know many blacks have move back to the south for better opportunities and weather, having found the north and Midwest was not exactly the promised land.

+1. This. Friend from Kentucky and she would never move back because her values don’t align.

It wasn’t like this before rise of Trump but Republicans continue to set a new low in ethics, morals, governing, etc….. The lies, the complicity, etc…

If your state votes for idiots, then don’t be surprised if people assume the people who live there are racist, ignorant, etc…..

I fully blame the rise of Trump and where the republican party is today, who stands for nothing and can’t do anything, on people that voted for them.

There is nowhere in this great nation of ours that is free of the scourge of racism.
