Why is there so much hate for the south here?

Anonymous
Spend any amount of time on here and there are so many nasty comments made about the south that I just don't understand. And while I've never lived in the south I have spent quite a bit of time in GA, SC, NC and FL. and have found people to be nice and welcoming. Nicer than here for sure. So I don't get the near constant comments on different threads about it. Seems to me in fact a lot of people head south to retire for an slower pace life and for warm weather. What gives?

I’m guessing it gets the racism and the the stain that can never be washed off from the Jim Crow era, but I don’t know.

Maybe it’s the bombing of all successful black neighborhoods, or turning them into lakes or using eminent domain to run the roads right through their communities.

Cuz they're all a bunch of racist, redneck dipshits.

1. Because I feel physically unsafe around so many ignorant people.

2. I want them to leave the rest of us alone at the bare minimum. They refuse to do that.

Because of their heavy past and present history of racism and xenophobia?

For me, it's mostly that these places are way too warm. I'm loving the weather we currently have in the DC area, OP, and this is the furthest south I've ever lived. There's no way I'd move to an even hotter place!

You are quite ignorant, but maybe that's what you need to believe to feel better about living in a declining part of the country.

I mean, yes. The dipshits are doing their best to drag us down to their level. That's true. They've always been taker states who hate America and everything it stands for. Half them are worried about the blacks get welfare while they themselves scheme their way onto Social Security disability while smoking meth and buying scratch-offs.

I hate anyone who has voted for our current administration.

I'm foreign born and south has been very unpleasant. Road rage and everyone trying to rip us off. Reminds me of Brazil and Colombia.

Nicer than here for sure

You've lost us, Op

doh

I'd be ok with the big metro areas like Atlanta or Raleigh/Durham, but not the rest of the state. I'm Asian American, in a biracial marriage. Not only do I want diversity, but I need my ethnic grocery stores.

Right now, I despise humid weather, but I know that as I get older, I'll want the warm/humid weather. So, we have talked about moving to maybe the Raleigh area when we are in our 60s/70s. That's about as south as I want to go.
