Plus it's the biggest meet of the year. Parents will hire a dogsled team to get their kids there and back if they have to. |
Lol thats funny because it’s true |
IMX guy, you are BACK! Missed you. LOL. |
The part about parents being crazy, it is far from the biggest meet of the year. That is laughable. |
Maybe there is a waiver or they just get fined. They would have to submit the changes to get the meet sanctioned. Although I have not seen anything on PVS to be official about the changes. Wouldn't that be crazy if they didn't officially make the corrections and they lost the sanction. A meet all for nothing. |
The dogsled part. |
| Where are people buying their dogs and sleds? Do they let you try them out before buying them if you wear special gloves? |
FWIW- the rule is just that the session needs to be planned not to exceed 4 hours, it is not a violation when it does exceed 4 hours. Also, the sanction already provides (as is typical) that the meet director can adjust times and sessions after entries are received. This does not require an amendment to the sanction. If a swimmer, for example, vomits in the pool, and they have to delay the meet for 2 hours, and make adjustments- it will exceed 4 hours. Its fine. This is a similar situation. As far as PVS and USA swimming are concerned- its all fine. (Whether or not swimming events this long all together is a good idea- I'm not getting into that). |
I don't think you could do chase starts in a SCY pool. They are only allowed in PVS in LC_ and you need an entire other set of officials. The SCY pool is not long enough- you would have kids already turning before everyone got to the 15 meter mark. https://www.pvswim.org/official/training/2014-06_GuidelinesforChaseStarts.pdf (I do appreciate the creative thinking.) |
Oh my gosh - Chase starts! Now that is funny! I’ve watched them at high level meets and seen swimmers have to be pulled out. I can just imagine at an age group meet! lol |
I see, it’s a pvs rule. I have seen it a few times in scy elsewhere. And I’m not sure what you mean about turning at 15 m mark. One end starts and then as the last swimmer is returning to their end at the conclusion of the race, the other end starts. It eliminates about 30-40 seconds per heat. And obviously cannot be done for backstroke events. |
Our age group lc championship meet had chase starts until a couple of years ago. It really sped up the meet. 200 fly was the tough one. |
This doesn't make sense. The new session plan now has it scheduled over four hours because they changed the meet by compressing a three day meet into a two day meet. |
| Is parking free on Friday? Our coach told us that parking will be free on Friday and Saturday. The meet announcement said that there is a parking fee on Friday, but free on Saturday and Sunday. This is similar to Turkey Claus. |
We were told the terrapin trail garage is now free to park in all day today rather than just free after 4 pm. |
