| Seems like they are making schedule changes on Meet Mobile? I am seeing 12U girls on Friday? Is it just me? |
| We have been told that they are compressing the meet into Friday and Saturday. The new schedule is in Meet Mobile. The older kids start at 7:30 am and are doing the 2 Fly, 2 IM and 500 free on Friday run fast to slow, with the other 3 events on Saturday also fast to slow. |
Woah you’re right. Wonder if they’re really going to do this. Would require kids to miss more school now and out of town teams who would maybe travel morning if Friday to travel Thursday instead? |
Sessions for the older kids can run up to 8 hours before USAS rules come into play.
12&u sessions have to be planned for 4 hours or less with the exception of championship meets. Maybe they're calling it a championship meet now? |
| Our club sent out a new timeline. Two day meet now. The kids thought this meeting was was hard before it just got tougher. |
Can you share it here? We haven’t heard anything. |
It’s up on Meet Mobile. |
They pulled it back. I don't think it is a done deal. It would mean 7 hour sessions for the 13-14s which seems insane. Who would do that to a kid? |
The 12&U combined is just as long on the schedule which USA swimming does not allow. So they will have to come up with a new plan. |
| I still see it on meet mobile? |
It’s still up on Meet Mobile with the new schedule. Multiple teams have gotten the information about the condensed schedule. Unless the forecast does a 180 there is no chance anyone is competing on Sunday. Their options are to run Friday/Saturday as normal knowing Sunday isn’t happening so the meet won’t finish, or try to fit the whole meet in over 2 days. I’m also guessing that the new compressed schedule would lead to a ton of scratches and make the timelines shorter. |
So if half the kids scratch, 7 hours becomes 3.5 hours and everything is fine. |
There are over 400 swimmers swimming 500 free at the end of Friday. OMG! |
There are no timeline requirements being broken for the 13 and overs, even if it was 7 hours. I have been to some 13 and over LC sessions that were insanely long. The 12 and under boys session is probably at or close to 4 hours without scratches, so will probably be under when scratches are factored in. The 12 and under girls session timeline is the one that’s well over, and if the boys pool is under they can use that to assist. I think their priority is getting this meet in and making sure everyone can get out of college park before the weather turns. |
As long as it's still fast to slow I'm ok with that. Just tell the kids at the end to go home in the afternoon and come back at night for finals. |
