Why do we have such low standards for ICE hiring and training?

It’s old school KKK behavior. I think it’s closer to that than it is to Nazis.

While I agree, this does not help in the here and now.

I think it does in that you’re enough states join in something similar. These people will know that joining ice will make them unemployable once this administration is over. Private companies should join as well.

Some important context as we discuss ICE practices: In 2025, 32 people died in ICE custody. The last time the number was this high was in 2004 (when Bush was president). That is not to say that all deaths were the result of ICE negligence, but it does raise important ethical issues about the kind of care detainees get while in ICE custody. Below is an article from the Guardian, which is keeping track of all the people who died under ICE custody.

2025 was ICE’s deadliest year in two decades

Thirty-two people died in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody in 2025 – making it the agency’s deadliest year in more than two decades, as the Trump administration moved to detain a record number of people.

Some of those who died in detention had arrived in the US recently, seeking asylum. Others had arrived years ago, some as young children. Some had been apprehended on criminal charges or had served time for convictions; others had been picked up in the administration’s indiscriminate ICE raids.

They died of seizure and heart failure, stroke, respiratory failure, tuberculosis or suicide. Some died at ICE detention centers and field offices, others after they had been transferred to hospitals, but were still under ICE custody. In some cases, their families and lawyers have alleged, they died of neglect, after repeatedly trying and failing to get medical care.

The number of deaths, 32, matched the previous record, set in 2004. These deaths occurred as the Trump administration ramped up its immigration operations, detaining a record number of people in December. The agency was holding 68,440 people in detention in mid-December; nearly 75% of them had no criminal convictions. December was also the deadliest month in ICE custody – six people died.

Who knows because ICE's budget is bigger than all of our law force agencies combined, including the FBI. It's bigger than Italy's entire national defense budget.

I suspect the reason is because MAGA is a small minority. The vast majority of Americans don't want to rough up and terrorize communities. Remember a not small amount of these guys, per reports, couldn't pass an open book test. Let that sink in!

Yes, the long and the short of it is that people that could meet higher qualifications would never do the job.

The Nazis sent envoys to the American south because they so admired the Jim Crow system and wanted to emulate it for Jewish people in Germany.

For POTUS Miller, the dumber and more violent the better. He wants chaos.

Trump has said repeatedly how he loves the uneducated. He'll take their votes, their money, and their violent acts.

This is really the most accurate answer.

The fewer options these people had under any other system prior to today, the more likely they are to support the regime that puts them on top of the pile over everyone else who used to be.

My Jesus Gun cousin used to say that in a two-man stand off, his gun will beat any “stupid pu**y s*** peesa paper” from Harvard.

I haven’t checked but honestly I would not be surprised if he were working for ICE.

He didn’t get a HS degree and lost his last good job when he wouldn’t get vaccinated for covid. Bought his own rig to start hauling fuel under his own name, and then I think he couldn’t keep up with the payments and lost it.

He’s a giant tub of lard to boot.

ICE is not a training issue. They are operating the way republicans want them to operate.

Again it is not a training issue but orders from the top.
