Airbnb not heated when arrived

Absolutely unacceptable. Complain to Airbnb and keep pushing it with them. When I had an issue with Airbnb a few years ago it took a weeks of persistent hounding of their CS dept.

And definitely leave an accurate review. If people left REAL reviews more often it would quickly help fix Airbnb. People leaving moderately true reviews rather than unvarnished ones is what lets the crappy owners slate by on the platform.

We've done Airbnb/VRBO several times. I would say things worked out well about half the time. Issues that happened including:
- We booked a stay that was supposed to be private but the owner was actually staying in one of the bedrooms.
- An owner blacklisted from Airbnb our friend who booked the house for our group. This was on the basis that we had trashed the house, which was completely ridiculous. I strongly suspect the owner confused us with another property.
- Multiple properties with long lists of chores that have to happen before checkout despite paying a cleaning fee, never fails to make checkout extremely stressful since we are also in a hurry packing etc.
- Property booked months in advance for popular destination during peak season canceled two days before start. The owner told us there was a maintenance issue and "recommended" we cancel. We suspect he wanted to get someone else in to get a higher rate than what we had booked.

I also don't feel people are always fully honest in their reviews as nobody wants to be blacklisted.

This year we finally lost patience and decided to book exclusively at hotels or with local realtors that have a reputation to maintain.

OP, while we we haven't experience the issue you describe specifically, it does not surprise me in the least.
