Jesuit colleges and universities

Way too many of these Jesuit schools are poorly ranked. If kid is top student and wants Catholic not many options other than GU, HC and ND. Not a fan of Georgetown campus tiny.

Have to wonder how some of these Jesuit schools stay financially sound if don’t have billion dollar endowments.

Nice try, Holy Cross slappy. Try Michael’s College at U of Toronto if you want a different feel.

Yes, the idiot lists that one too. It's not Jesuit either.

You know, it's not very hard to Google a list of Jesuit colleges in the USA.

And there are only 28 of them.

What's missing from the following list? :
Boston College, Fairfield University, Fordham University, College of the Holy Cross, Le Moyne College, St. Joseph's University, University of Scranton, Saint Peter's University, Canisius University.

Georgetown University, Loyola University Maryland, Spring Hill College, Loyola University New Orleans.

Marquette University, Loyola University Chicago, Creighton University, John Carroll University, Rockhurst University, University of Detroit Mercy, Xavier University.

Santa Clara University, Gonzaga University, Loyola Marymount University, Seattle University, University of San Francisco.

Regis, St. Louis, Wheeling (Jesuit) University lost its Jesuit affiliation in 2019, so only 27 now.

The Holy Cross guy here is painfully fixated on BC.

For BC, it happened in the mid-80s.

Where’s Flutie when they need him now.

The commuter school aspect would go back to the early 1970s (50 yrs ago). BC was not a commuter school when Flutie attended in the mid 1980s.

What's ironic about that is that they're in two different categories, LAC vs mid-size university. Apples and oranges.

Generally, Jesuit universities were originally founded to serve poorer populations in cities. Focus on endowment is only a more recent phenomenon.

Seriously. One of my family members still has season tickets for football, but I haven't been tempted to go up for a game in years. Basketball is rough, too.

I don't get to see hockey games down here, but both the men and women are second in Hockey East. Whew!

I miss college hockey games!

yeah, that was my point. They were saying BC was a local commuter school until 30 years ago. I was saying it was a national name in the 80s.

Aside US News recently put Naval academy, West Point, and Air Force Academy in LAC category so HC would be 24th. Think they put those 3 Academies in LAC category because they don’t have grad programs. Believe Fairfield used to be classified in the US News regional category along with Providence. Being ranked 139 is not a plus when in state UConn is ranked 69th at a fraction of the cost of Fairfield.

This is such a self-own.

adults on this forums who were in college or applying to college in the 80s know if BC's national name. But their kids who are embrking on the college applying journey don't necessarily associate BC in same way as their parents' generation did. Commuter school, national name to "where's BC" (students in NE will know).
