Providence is run by the Dominicans.

Among the rest of the Jesuit schools strong correlation between city the school is located and current popularity. BC and Santa Clara doing well. Loyola of Maryland and Fairfield doing well but more of a safety. St Louis, Marquette, and Xavier not as well. The last 3 compete against better known cheaper Flagship Universities like UWisconsin and The Ohio State and those Jesuit schools are not winning the app battle.

Have you seen Fairfield’s admit rate the last few years? 25 %. Not a safety.

One person's safety is another person's dream school.

The Bible US News ranks Fairfield at 139th.

LOL this isn't a list of "key" Jesuit schools in the US. It's a list of ALL of them.

The question was idiotic. That's why. If the question were "what are the Jesuit universities" or "which Jesuit universities would you recommend" that would be fine. But to ask which Jesuit universities would you recommend and then list a bunch of non-Jesuit schools is lazy and idiotic and just muddies up the discussion and results in a useless thread.

2 or 3 very good Jesuit schools, the rest good luck.

And your unkind comment completely derailed the thread.

Would you rather be unkind?

Apparently you would.

Grok did a pretty nice job cross referencing Jesuit universities with USNWR rankings. Chat GPT failed miserably.

How would you rank Fairfield and Providence? They are very popular at my kids' school.

Fairfield is listed in the ranking post above. Providence is not Jesuit. It is ranked regionally, not nationally. My daughter applied and got in, but we think Georgetown will be a better fit for her.

OP, if you didn't post just to stir the pot, you could get some much more targeted suggestions for your kid by adding some information, like major, size, budget, geographic location, etc.

They are not ranked together- one is ranked nationally and one is ranked as a regional school. Fairfield has been rising in popularity in our Catholic cohort. According to our college counselor Providence still had a slightly harder admit as of 2-3 years ago but that they are similar now.
DC light Fairfield a lot more when we visited. Providence has an interesting curriculum that appeals to a lot of people.

Yes, the idiot lists that one too. It's not Jesuit either.

You know, it's not very hard to Google a list of Jesuit colleges in the USA.

And there are only 28 of them.

What's missing from the following list? :
Boston College, Fairfield University, Fordham University, College of the Holy Cross, Le Moyne College, St. Joseph's University, University of Scranton, Saint Peter's University, Canisius University.

Georgetown University, Loyola University Maryland, Spring Hill College, Loyola University New Orleans.

Marquette University, Loyola University Chicago, Creighton University, John Carroll University, Rockhurst University, University of Detroit Mercy, Xavier University.

Santa Clara University, Gonzaga University, Loyola Marymount University, Seattle University, University of San Francisco.

If you don't need the info, move along to the next thread, loser. By listing non Jesuit schools, there has been more discussion which helps students and their families decide schools to visit or explore further.

^Grok knows best. Confirms Georgetown and Holy Cross are top 25 in respective categories of National Univ and National Liberal Arts. Aside US News recently put Naval academy, West Point, and Air Force Academy in LAC category so HC would be 24th. Think they put those 3 Academies in LAC category because they don’t have grad programs. Believe Fairfield used to be classified in the US News regional category along with Providence. Being ranked 139 is not a plus when in state UConn is ranked 69th at a fraction of the cost of Fairfield.
