They did deferrals last year too. No more waitlist, just deferrals and they look at them again in the RD round.

Just my own speculation, but I think uva has a pretty good sense of what the EA pool looks like before they finalize ED decisions. That may affect how many they offer in ED.

My ds is sitting right here with me- he is texting away with his friends happily.

That’s probably because they have gotten flooded with EA apps since no additional essays. Those numbers will be up for sure.

But these are only ED numbers so interesting that they left more offers for the EA and RD rounds this year. Agree with the other poster that it must mean quality was down slightly.
