Most kids aren’t going to top 30 nor do they concern themselves with it. Maybe neurotic parents do for a reason I can’t think of but BC is an excellent school that has graduated successful people.

Are your kids even tracking on rankings? Our DD is highly competitive by nature, but I've never heard her mention rankings, or "T20" or anything like that. She does happen to be applying to a mix of T20's and T40's, and she does notice acceptance rate and other admissions stats but never rankings. I've only heard parents discuss rankings.

Agree, there are so many more sources of info that kids don’t track US news like prior generations did. Kids also know how hard it is to get into the T30-T70 schools these days and aren’t burdened by memories from two decades ago,

BC does better in California because most people there aren’t aware of its humble history pre-1990s.

I had one who got into 1st choice college ED this time of year. He cried he was so happy.

My next one didn't get into BC nursing but did go to a neighboring state U with a 20% tuition break over BC and now they are a BSN/RN with a regional hospital. They actually loves/like their job and now I realize they

could have gone anywhere for it.

Back when my kids played sports one special kid went to BC and I think he literally just works in his dad's car dealership.

Glad it worked out. I would never pay full price at BC for nursing or teaching - you can get just as good of an education and placement at significantly cheaper schools.

Yeah, it's kind of insane to pay $95K/year for a nursing degree when RNs 20 years into their careers typically make $95K.
Signed,
an RN who liked BC a lot when we toured with our senior but can't justify the cost.

Top 35 yes, top 30 no.

Bu you are bitter. Why? You are under no obligation to post comments and nobody on here is even arguing about rankings etc.

Exactly lots of mixed outcomes from BC with nursing school, education school/teachers. BC also has a night school. Not worth $95k a year.

^+1. Would pay full price for a top 25 school but not beyond that range. Flagship state schools come into play beyond that coveted group.

Fwiw, you are right you can get a great nursing degree at a cheaper place but for others that doesn’t matter. If you have the money and kid takes no loans (and some can offer kid best egg on top of that) it is great to get nursing degree from a school with lots of identity and spirit if that means something to you. Every family’s calculation is different. I dislike when this board assumes everyone makes the same calculations and choices. Lots of different paths depending on life situation.

^With a 2-10 football team and men’s and women’s basketball teams that are horrible how much school spirit does BC have? Agree why pay $95 for a nursing or education degree from a top 40 Boston College.

There is something special about a Jesuit education. That’s why. IYKYK

I think jesuit education is ideal for HS. For college, I appreciate it (I went to a Jesuit college). But it's also pretty white, umc, insular. I can see both sides. I wouldn't pay 95k a year.

I was just talking to someone whose kid got into BC ED with lower than expected FA (none basically). Kid also has St Andrews in hand. The entire table of people - including a college professor in the field she'd be studying - urged her to consider St Andrews.

It takes a special kind of loserness to come onto accepted student threads and bash the school. Such posters really need to take a step back and question how they are living their life. The rest of us think you are pathetic and discount your posts.

St Andrews is a better deal. Schools like BC, expensive non top 30 schools must be vulnerable to exodus to cheaper better weather/sports SEC schools at half the cost.
