GPA: Mostly A- from a private school that does not calculate GPA; had 2 B+ in college-level classes last year. SAT: 1530. Loads of service hours (I can't remember the exact number). I hope this is helpful.

For the accepted students, how many years of on-campus housing does BC normally guarantee? My daughter is not an athlete or a nursing student, but has 4 years.

BC guarantees first 2 years. We heard from a coach that a lot of kids move off campus junior year but come back senior year because they realize campus life is better.

BC normally guarantees 3 years of housing, freshman, sophomore and senior years.

4 years are given to certain groups (nursing, athletes) and the top portion of applicants. In olden times, it was only a quarter or so, but now the portion getting four years is closer to maybe 40% the class. Still, many people with four years housing choose to live off campus with their friends junior year.

DD is in! Private catholic school in the SF Bay area. GPA 3.7 Unweighted, strong rigor in humanities, lots of service hours, test optional (she got a 1400 super score but chose not to submit).

I feel like we were misled. My kid said that on a video call for applicants the admissions team strongly encouraged submitting scores and even implied not submitting if you took the test would read as dishonest.

So my kid with scores near the 25th percentile submitted.

Yet Im seeing lots of test optional acceptances.

I wish there were clearer rules.

I don’t know if I feel misled exactly but I definitely read them as saying they wanted scores. And also surprised by the TO acceptances.

I don’t know if I feel misled exactly but I definitely read them as saying they wanted scores. And also surprised by the TO acceptances.

Of course they want scores. It’s reported to USNWR and TO is on its way out. Scores at the 25th percentile usually goes to hooked students and athletes so you are always at risk submitting scores in that range. Your high school counselor should have advised against this

I think submission at the 25th percentile was the right move. TO may not have been any better; all depends on the rest of the app.
