Either a CO jerk or some delusional nutjob from OSMS who feels attacking the mom somehow makes Dr. Booms or the school seem less guilty in what went wrong here. Either way, it's absolutely pathetic and disgusting behavior.

Be careful about making judgements before you know all of the facts.

What facts will make the PE teacher who should have been watching the kids not liable?

What facts will make Dr. Booms and the school’s delayed response acceptable?

There is no evidence of this. Maybe some to come but still nothing publicly shared.

What is the evidence that the girl was "bullied relentlessly"? Or that "she grabbed the first thing she saw" ...which btw just happened to be a very sharp metal object that she then impaled into the kid's skull.

The girl may not be a "criminal mind" but she committed horrific violence that was not accidental. I would not want my kid anywhere near a classroom with a MS student who literally bashed another MS student's brain.

Just bc his mom won’t post his behavior on social media doesn’t make it true. My kid was a witness (who was involved with the police) the kid isn’t innocent. That’s the part she won’t post.

She said he threw a ball at her. He has ASD and could be greatly impacted by it. Thanks to this girl, he is now missing part of his brain. There is no excuse for her using a weapon and this was more than throwing it.

I'd remove my kid from that school.

Where is it stated he’s missing part of his brain? I believe I’ve read every news article related to this but didn’t see that.

I’m glad to hear Lenny is making a great recovery and is now home.

Have you guys seen the pics she posted in instagram? He's standing, bleeding with the flag football gear still on and they hadn't called 911!

He's missing part of his skull, not his brain. His brain swelled up so much that they removed a piece of his skull to allow the swelling to go down and he has to wear a helmet at all times. He's going back in January to have surgery so they can reattach the piece of his skull they removed to his head.

It is a fact that the kids were unsupervised when the incident happened and that there were no adults around when Lenny was struck.

Correct. They instead, put him in a wheelchair and wheeled him into the main office or the nurse's office. Which was a big no-no given the severity of his head injury.

How did the teacher not notice a child throwing a ball at another and not intervening? How did they not notice a group of kids chasing another kid with a metal object and hitting him with it? When the child said they were injured, how do you not call 911 and the parents?

He called his mom for help on his phone and was told to sit down and stop.

Glad that barn door closed after the horse left

Maybe it would be smart for people to wear head protection when playing football?

ASD is not an excuse for repeatedly harassing someone. While impacted, he was not in a restrictive setting so he was deemed capable of appropriate basic interactions with peers. I would be horrified to learn that my child with ASD was bullying someone.

PE classes are enormous and chaotic. There’s also a practice in MCPS of taking 2-3 classes outside at the same time and letting the kids mix together for a game. It becomes impossible to really monitor who is playing and who is having a conflict.

No excuse for not following the concussion protocol though.

They aren’t the folks DCUM usually cares about so —as usual— this incident has just become a way for privileged people to use underprivileged people’s problems and trauma to further their own ends. I doubt 1 in 10 people here really care about the boy. If they did, they’d be protesting in front of the BOE.

Not everyone has the time to protest and lets be real, the BOE and Central office don't care as it doesn't impact their kids. The best thing we can do is vote out the BOE members and hope they fire everyone in central office.

I hope you realize how unrealistic and ineffectual that would be.

There are people working there who don’t make policy and are critical to the system functioning at all. Firing everyone in central office hurts students more than it would help them.

Obviously the system isn’t functioning. Don’t worry. Your job is still protected due to Taylor while children still bully each other to harm. This isn’t the only school this happens at. This is just the one where the mother put it in the public eye.
