Mom of Odessa Student injured speaks out

If that’s what the mother of the injured boy needs and wants I’m there.

My child was assaulted on a MCPS playground years ago and was admitted to the hospital with a concussion and then had to undergo physical therapy for months. The asswipes at MCPS kept his bully in the classroom even though he threatened to do it again. Some children don’t deserve a public education until there idiot parents parent. Knock it off with your privileged bs. I’m white and MCPS didn’t care or do anything. Worthless people working at this district. Worthless. I’m enraged for this mother.

She should be in a psych ward.

No. You didn't read what happened

He targeted her she finally had enough.
She is a child for god's sake.

There is no one here at fault except for adults who handled this poorly.

I cannot imagine putting a metal object through someone's skull. That is not normal for a "child" -- or for an adult for that matter.

IF she has been hit with a ball or believed she was targeted then it is not a surprise she chose to attack him. The severity of the reaction indicated that there is some kind of history. Usually what I would expect to see is if Kid A throws a ball that hit Kid B, Kid B would throw a ball hitting Kid A. If Kid A slap Kid B, Kid B would slap back. But for her to pick up a weapon to attack him rather than just picking up the ball and throwing it right back makes me think that there had been prior interactions.

As far as supervision, PE classes tend to be very large even with multiple teachers. Question is whether anything has been reported to the teachers previously prior to the event. Or if they even knew that the issues were ongoing. Bullying is not taken seriously at all by any schools that I’ve worked for. No one cares because there are no consequences. Until it ends up in tragedy because no one took it seriously.

This is crazy. The adults who behave that way are not normal. Neither was what this girl did. Neither is saying it's understandable because she got hit with a ball, either by accident or on purpose. That is not a normal response.

They need to bring back the schools for kids with violent behavioral problems kids. Or, have these kids do virtual. Children are entitled to an education, but they are not entitled to be violent to others to others and remain in the classroom. I would call the police and try to press charges.

Not everyone has the time to protest and lets be real, the BOE and Central office don't care as it doesn't impact their kids. The best thing we can do is vote out the BOE members and hope they fire everyone in central office.

The point is that when crazy people get into a RAGE and have NOTHING to lose, they will not behave like NORMAL people. Would you kill someone if they “stole” your parking spot? No, but a crazy person might. Would you stab someone in the head with a metal stick if they threw a ball at you? No, but clearly this girl would. What YOU would do is irrelevant. Crazy people don’t take time to think about what is a normal response versus what is abnormal.

It’s not understandable in the sense that it is the correct reaction to someone hitting her with a ball. It is “understandable” in the sense that when 1 crazy person gets into a rage, they’re not thinking about “is hurting someone over this a bad idea?” Or “is my reaction abnormal?” They don’t think at all.

This is a child. She was bullied relentlessly, got hit in the face, and quickly retaliated. This entire thread seems to be like she’s some sort of mastermind psychopath. She grabbed the first thing she saw. Was it horribly unfortunate that it caused the damage it did? For sure. Does it make her a criminal mind? Hardly.

What is the evidence that the girl was "bullied relentlessly"? Or that "she grabbed the first thing she saw" ...which btw just happened to be a very sharp metal object that she then impaled into the kid's skull.

The girl may not be a "criminal mind" but she committed horrific violence that was not accidental. I would not want my kid anywhere near a classroom with a MS student who literally bashed another MS student's brain.

Lenny's Mom posted an update on her facebook with pictures of when he was on the playground. It's awful!

(I wish she would stop focusing on the teacher asking Lenny to sit down, because he really needed to due to his bleeding. So on one hand she's upset they asked him to sit down and on the other because he is standing.)

I can not imagine going through this.

on 10/22 @ approximately 11AM - Lenny called me and told me “mom i’m bleeding from my head” i automatically started to ask questions but it went silent for about 15-20 seconds. then im assuming the gym teacher took the phone from lenny and told me to tell lenny “ tell Lenny to sit down he isn’t listening “ HE WAS IN SHOCK !! (i’ll insert that photo below a fellow 8th grader captured it exactly when the gym teacher was talking to me)
NO ONE noticed this happen until the kids were screaming and running to the PE teacher to report what happened
* *MIND YOU LENNY WAS STANDING UP WHILE HE HAD AN OPEN SKULL FRACTURE AND WAS LEAKING BLOOD EVERYWHERE * *
i was rushing out of the house with my 2 month old at the time to get to lenny, mind you i’m not far from the school. it took approximately 11 minutes for the school to call me and tell me what happened, i was arriving when they called. lenny was already in the stretcher in the ambulance when i arrived, we rushed to Holy cross in silver spring to have him seen and got the news that children’s were rushing to get him due to the bone fragments being in his brain and they have to do surgery right away. children’s arrived and took him i stayed behind loading the baby and stroller in my car. i was about 15-10 minutes away from children’s hospital in DC when they called me from the hospital and told me they had to do an emergency surgery right away and i have to consent on the phone there’s no time to wait for a signature it’s critical.
THIS IS WHEN I FELT MY WORLD FALL ON TOP OF ME, I COULDNT BREATH, MY CHEST WAS TIGHTENING UP AND I SAW SMALL STARS…
IM NOT SURE HOW I DROVE BUT I MADE IT. ALL I COULD THINK IS I COULDNT BE BY HIS SIDE AT THAT MOMENT ALL I COULD THINK IS MY BOY IS ALL ALONE IN THAT COLD OR ROOM.

@ 5:44PM that same day Dr.Booms called me and told me what happened. she said that
*lenny was playing in PE class and he threw a ball that accidentally hit the little girl. she then picked up a metal object and threw it at lenny, then another student picked up the object and threw it in the woods*
she did say there’s footage but it’s not up close since they were so far in the field, but she described what happened with details.
****
around 9PM MCPD arrived @ children’s hospital to take the police report i only shared what the principal told me.
****
i just got hands on the police report, i’m posting a RED FLAG !!
🚩 *Staff members contacted MCFR who responded and transported Lenny first to Holy Cross hospital. It
should be noted school staff did not contact MCPD about this incident when it occurred * 🚩
now, isn’t MCFR supposed to contact the police department for a call like this?
why the hell didnt the school or MCFR call the police to be at the scene?
the police showed up to the school @ 5PM, to take the report from the school.

i avoided posting this but noticed a lot of these news outlets saying different things, to avoid getting anything tangled up i’m posting exactly what happened and proof of what i have on my end.

Must be a CO jerk or a weirdo posting here. If you do not believe any story then please do everyone a favor and keep your opinions to yourself. How delusional do you have to be in even DARE to come here and try to belittle other parent’s experiences. I’m gobsmacked. How atrocious.

This appears to be a scuffle that happened between two kids and while it’s likely the girl wanted to hit Lenny, she likely had no awareness how much damage the hit would cause. I say this as a parent who had a child leave recess in an ambulance after a classmate caused an injury that took over 18 months to recover. IME, the other child’s actions were intentional but it wasn’t his intention to injure my kid.

Things happen in the blink of an eye. While it’s easy to play Monday morning quarterback, things can escalate quickly and difficult to ascertain when there are dozens of children under your supervision. We have to be cautious about jumping to conclusions about the lack of supervision.

In my likely unpopular opinion, mom is saying she’s been quiet about this but she’s been very active on social media and in the local press. I’m not sure her reasons but posting multiple videos and pictures seems attention seeking. Her instinct to post a gofundme almost immediately also rubbed me the wrong way.
