Please don’t speak for me. You know nothing about me.

We know you don’t want to work a minimum wage job. Just admit it

DP, my teenaged son applied everywhere starting March last year through July. Couldn't get hired at a restaurant, our local CVS, ice cream shops and Playa Bowl, nothing. They just aren't hiring, maybe because of fear of recession and the need to lay people off again. Doesn't excuse the lack of customer service and making the customers do their own check-out, bagging, etc.

Most major retail companies are on a hiring freeze. Even for the holidays they are expecting to need less people.

Agree with you OP

I hate this about Trader Joe’s. The cashier said “did you do anything fun today?” And I said “not yet” to try to be nice, like to not say no, and she was like “are you doing something fun later” and like, get off my case lady!

Lol people like you are the reason why this area is so miserable. It's called being friendly, a normal simple human interaction. Just fake it for 5 minutes.

People do want and need these jobs.

I find it hard to believe as my 15 year old had no issue getting a summer job and was offered to stay on in the winter and even got a job offer in mid-august.

So your data point of one trumps everyone else’s experience? Do you dismiss everyone in your life that has a different experience than you? GTFOH.

What kind of work is this?

Anonymous wrote:You know what else private equity owns as of recent years and is trying to keep at skeleton staff? The urgent care I work at. It’s miserable. Next time you have an extended wait time, call corporate and complain. But please god don’t complain to the poor front desk woman who is doing the job of 2 or 3.

Private equity is also buying up veterinary clinics.

Private equity doesn't give a rat's ass about your pets. They want your money.

Then start your own businesses.

You sound like one of those MAGAs.

+1
No luck for my teen.

I just laugh because everything on this forum always ends up with one person calling another a maga. Doesn’t matter what topic. If someone disagrees with someone else, they’re a maga, lol.

I’m glad your son got a fast job offer. That certainly was not the experience for my child and about five or six of our kids, friends, who were also trying to get jobs. People in our neighborhood group were also complaining about it so consider yourself very lucky that your son was able to get a job quickly.

There are many teenagers, college students, and people who need second jobs out there who want to work - especially in the DC area with all the laid off feds.

Agree. I enjoy the cheerful vibe you always find at TJs.
