Historically law students tracked what percentage of summer associates from a firm did/not receive an offer for a job after law school as a good metric of whether to apply to that firm. To avoid looking bad to the next crop of applicants, firms would “cold offer” summers they didn’t like, essentially saying “you can come back but we really don’t want you to.” That way the firm could say they gave 100% of the class offers, but signal to certain people they should really find a different job. |
What happens when you take the offer? Aquagirl is still a lawyer in NYC. |
Inappropriate and immature. |
+100. Totally inappropriate |
🙄 Get over it. At least some people still have a sense of humor. |
Why don't you get over your need to suck at life and stop sucking at life.
|
^^PP Maybe I’ll take your advice when you learn to properly post on this site.
Until then tell your family member to get their crap together and never bite another person again. |
I’d be extremely annoyed if one of my coworkers bit me. |
I hadn’t heard about cold offers but given that like half of associates hate their firm anyway, k can totally see someone taking a cold offer. It’s not like it’s a love match. “We don’t want you but we will pay you for some period of time until we guilt trip you out.” “I don’t like you either and I will happily spend the money you pay me and will be basically immune to guilt tripping.” It’s a little sociopathic to go where you’re clearly not wanted but on the other hand, it’s sort of perfect. |
Most of the people here would be lucky if she bit them because these are not likely DC moms here. |
Oh please. How do you know so much about her? FWIW I’m currently stuck on a plane trying to get into DCA and this thread has been a saving grace. The other passengers are wondering why I can’t stop laughing. |
Or perhaps a judge? |
Read the ATL article out loud to them 😂 |
+1. If this PP is inappropriate and immature, then what is the biter? |
Precisely. I have no idea who she is, and would like it to stay that way. She was smart enough to get into Harvard law, she'll be fine. |
