I hadn’t heard about cold offers but given that like half of associates hate their firm anyway, k can totally see someone taking a cold offer. It’s not like it’s a love match. “We don’t want you but we will pay you for some period of time until we guilt trip you out.” “I don’t like you either and I will happily spend the money you pay me and will be basically immune to guilt tripping.” It’s a little sociopathic to go where you’re clearly not wanted but on the other hand, it’s sort of perfect.
