I love Maine, though the vibe is usually “we’ll gladly take your money, but please go home.”

Spent every summer in Maine my entire life and close family friends with many of the locals. This is very much the vibe.

Does not sound like a good vibe at all.

NYC in the late 90s cannot be surpassed by anything imo. That time is gone but I'm glad I had it.

-Agree re New Orleans and Rio (and nearby Buzios). Great vibes.
-I loved the vibe in Mallorca but haven’t been since the backlash against tourists (understandable). I would go back there year after year if I could
-Cappadochia and Bodrum Turkey. Everyone was SO kind to my children
—Agree re walking around Rome at night—magical.
—Grand Teton NP. I wish I could go back and stare at those peaks all day.
—Nepal, Annapurna trek is amazing, lovely people
—Disagree with Cape Town. South Africa is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been but the vibe was painful. Barbed wire and massive security systems all over in the name of “safety” but all due to generations of apartheid. I couldn’t shake the negative vibe there.
Little Colorado river in the Grand Canyon us absolutely stunning and remote. High, high vibe

Agree about Cappadocia — it looks like a fairytale.

But I disagree about Cape Town— I had a blast there!

Tofino, out on the far coast of Vancouver Island in Canada.

It's small. There are lodges and some rental places, but it has a very remote vibe. The crashing waves are omnipresent, day and night. During storm season, it is even more thunderous. You can lose yourself in the primalness of it.

Tidal pools, orca, giant trees. Wildness.

This has been on my list! where did you stay? I love the PNW, so romantic.

Middle Beach Lodge. It's right at the water edge. They provide rain boots and slickers, and umbrellas. Hot fresh cookies every night.

The full moon party in Koh Samui, Thailand was mind blowing in my twenties but not sure I'd care for it now
