S/O Places you’ve visited with an amazing vibe/energy

That should be “candlelight” dinner!

Living in Cape Town was a blast. South Africans know how to have a good time. It also might be the most naturally beautiful city in the world. The vibes were excellent.

Tofino, out on the far coast of Vancouver Island in Canada.

It's small. There are lodges and some rental places, but it has a very remote vibe. The crashing waves are omnipresent, day and night. During storm season, it is even more thunderous. You can lose yourself in the primalness of it.

Tidal pools, orca, giant trees. Wildness.

This sounds awesome! I also like vacations in nature and really loved every minute of the Cabot Trail in Nova Scotia. I live in CA now and Point Reyes has become my happy place. In Point Reyes there’s not much near the cabins we like for food (a few restraints 15-20 mins drive away, and it can be very dark /no cell service on the drive) but all the bird song, animals about (we saw a bobcat, elk, and coyotes on the last visit - the bobcat was in the yard near the cabin) and the slow pace is fun. The kids go to the hot tub, play horse shoes, watch the birds, practice kartwheels. It’s just peaceful. There’s also a beach (Heart’s Desire) nearby that’s on an inlet and calm water, so I don’t have to worry about sneaker waves and riptides. We haven’t gone in midsummer (I’d maybe worry about fires) or midwinter, but we did go the end of October, April, and Sept and all were great. Probably my favorite trip involving a city was Oslo. I was a teen and tried learning some Norwegian first, which may have helped, but the people were generally not aloof as I’d expected. As another poster mentioned, the vibe was chill. I was there in early June and there were a lot of sidewalk cafes, lounging in the park etc. I loved riding the train that stopped at the bottom of hiking trails and seeing the racks for cross country skis on the train. When I went (it’s been a long time), it was very, very clean too.

I am not really for the tropics but I fell in love with Manuel Antonio CR. I just love the people and the little beaches there. I love the food of MA and pretty much everything about it. I've been to a lot of places, far and wide, some reason MA is where I feel most comfortable. I speak 4 languages but not even Spanish! Hahaha.

I studied in Europe and speak French from school years, native Mandarin as my family from China. I had a Russian au pair more or less raise me from ages 6-12 so speak some Russian and of course English.

There are many beautiful and interesting places I've enjoyed but MA for me is what I call the ultimate good energy place. Can't really explain it because I wasn't smitten with all of CR - just MA.

Anegada in the British Virgin Islands with the most amazing beach (cow wreck) that I’ve ever been to just had a vibe of both joy and peacefulness I’ve never experienced elsewhere.

Ghent Belgium something about the river and castles just had a swept back in time vibe more so than other places.

And probably my most controversial choice: Cleveland: there is just a heart to Cleveland and surprising vibrancy.

Porto was better than Lisbon imho.

Basically everywhere on the water in Croatia is awesome…especially after dark.

Walking around Rome after dinner in the dark on summer nights—lively and fun.

Benidorm is the bomb if you like to party. No place like it.

It's a thread about something "amazing" that stands out in the world. Some posters are likely writing about once-in-a-lifetime trips, whereas others may go more frequently, but nobody seems to be specifying.

Are you unable to read about globally amazing places without either expecting them to be cheap and easy to access, or without jealousy? Then the title of the thread should have been enough.

I grew up poor and live very frugally myself, but I've been to a couple of these places. I can also read well enough to avoid the thread, if I don't like it.
