The FBI has *ARRESTED* a sitting judge in Milwaukee, over allegations it obstructed immigration enforcement.

Or immune from ANY law, for that matter, by virtue of being a judge?

Could a judge be arrested for DUI? Or assault? Or tax evasion?

If yes, then aren’t those also authoritarianism, too?

Democrats are getting too far out over their skis here on this stuff.

Ok, so you are not getting it. She was arrested for adjudicating a case. Not hiding someone in her basement.

Oh, I “GET” exactly what happened here. A sitting judge assisted a person subject to compliance with a lawful order and helped that person evade custody.

If you or I did such a thing for a person subject to an order from the judge, this same judge would lock us up for it.

This is what I meant about getting too far out over our skis. Stuff like this is HORRIBLE for making claims of authoritarianism, because as soon as you look into it beyond a headline, it falls apart. Then Dems look like the boy who cried wolf.

DP. No. ICE did not have an arrest warrant from a judge. They just had an administrative warrant similar to a subpoena. They can wait outside like everyone else, and the judge does not have to allow them entry.

Arresting immigrants at courthouses is bad policy, as most everyone already knows. Trump doesn't care about policy because he doesn't think long term, when something goes wrong he blames someone else and quits/declares bankruptcy/sure. That's not working well for him in negotiating peace or in these taritf "negotiations" and it won't go well for him here.

To everyone else reading this who is NOT an officer of the court, it comes off as a judge holding the front door shut while allowing a criminal to escape custody out the back door. Because that’s exactly what it is.

This is exactly the stuff Dems shouldn’t be citing, because it’s a sham. People see right through it, and it gives credibility to R’s when they levy accusations against Dems that Dems support illegal immigration.

Why give them useful weapons to use against us?

The whole thing was a set up and the judge wanted no part of it on either side. Patel's tweet that he deleted confirms the same.

This post? That is right there on his timeline?

So, this illegal alien was being tried for domestic assault. The two victims who he beat up - violently - were in the court room ready to testify. When the judge found out that ICE was present she became furious, took the illegal alien out and escorted him out through the private jury door. ICE chased him down and arrested him.

This is a man who had been previously deported, BTW. And, entered illegally again.

Why are democrats so eager to protect and support illegal alien criminals?

As a Dem who despises Trump, I have no idea why other Dems get so worked up about this stuff. Who cares?

See 13:13. How can we have a civil society if minor enforcement of minor infractions become impossible? Then there will be no incentive for anyone to follow any rules, etc.

Oh the irony! Reread what you wrote.

I’m picturing Van Hollen furiously booking airline tickets to Milwaukee to defend this violent illegal immigrant.

“Save the Milwaukee Man!”

It’s amazing. The FBI ignores Signal gate but arrest judges.

As an independent this is shocking. Trump and all the republicans need to be removed. There’s no president in western free society for this unlawful act.

Republicans have lost all credibility.

You are an idiot. This is the FBI arresting a judge for doing their job. Next you people will arrest a judge because they rule against you. This is unprecedented and unconstitutional.

NP. My understanding is the judge is alleged to have willfully misdirected officers trying to make an arrest.

Is the allegation true? Perhaps not, but that remains to be seen. If true it’s not really the case the judge was just “doing their job.”

I agree with the poster that overreacting to the arrest before the facts are known makes it harder to reach the people who need to hear that the executive branch is overreaching in other areas. This may or may not be an example of an overreach.

Hysteria on the left is the fuel driving insanity on the right.

The problem is the Trump administration lies.

That’s certainly true. I’d even say it’s true to a degree greater than we’ve ever seen before (though Trump 45 came close!). But assuming every claim made on behalf of the executive branch, including the DoJ, is a lie is a losing strategy that will backfire spectacularly.

DP. By lying about everything, that has already backfired spectacularly on Trump. The Supreme Court has noticed that this administration deserves no presumption of regularity because they do not operate with any regularity. Which is why Trump lost 9-0.

Oops.

If you think a sensible takeaway from that one ruling is to automatically assume every single arrest made by the FBI is now based on falsehoods and would rather they suspend operations til the next election, you are absolutely helping to make MAGA’s case for them. I get that you’re frustrated but reason is more effective than anger.

The dictator sending out his secret police. If only the Republicans were subjected to the laws of this country. Wonder how many US citizens are being deported right now?

What is the normal process for violating a security clearance? I've never had one so I don't know what normally happens.

Yeah, I hate Trump, Bondi, Kash and the rest of them but if the Judge actually did this, then shame on her. That being said, virtually nothing else is being prosecuted right now because all Federal agents are out rounding up aliens and not doing their regular jobs.

DP yes every FBI arrest and evidence should not be believed or trusted. They have zero credibility and are operating outside the law. It is beyond reason that you can not see that. The FBI are the brownshirts for the Republican Party.

What is your definition of J6 treatment? Do you mean the way Congress was terrorized and forced to flee in mortal terror from their duties? Or do you mean the way the J6ers all pled guilty to their crimes for years until the Insurrectionist-in-chief was elected and cheerfully pardoned them? Should "these judges" be terrorized? Is that what you want? Or should they be tried, after being charged, and actually convicted (which here seems unlikely)?

No this is just a political statement made by the head of the FBI. This is no crime. Though this judge will never see the inside of a courtroom. The judge will just disappear like they have done to other US citizens.

They don't have to enforce federal laws, but they can't break federal laws. There is a difference. I thought Trump should have done this the first time around with the sanctuary non-sense. There were stories of cases like this where the judges were letting them out the back.

Things would be much less expensive to do if they, you know helped a little.
