Seriously, why aren’t women more afraid?

Unless your birth certificate matches your ID, you will not be able to vote. Did you take your husbands last name when you got married?

At $130 each and needing the State Dept to be staffed and ethical, this feels like an impossible ask.

That’s just not true. If you can prove citizenship, you can vote. Birth certificate plus marriage certificate, Real ID, passport. Lots of options.

I just responded to this, but also we don’t need to this—and in person. We don’t need it to drive, pay taxes, or travel, or even buy a firearm.

None of those things require citizenship. A better use of time and resources would be to make sure as many people have passports between now and November 2026.

I mis-quoted.

$130 is unaffordable to most people and our government agencies are being gutted. How would this work???

Someone posted earlier. Starting raising funds. I would give money for this.

States manage voting as well yet Trump and team are trying to implement the Save Act. States are responsible for abortion laws now and yet despite a referendum on it some Republicans in states are trying to go against the will of their people.

The current of the SAFE act leaves some of the administration/acceptable ID up to the states. Again, this is going to be a shock to the red state voters where they will end up with some of the strictest requirements.

Dem women did step up. They've protested, call their representatives and are speaking out through various avenues. Repugnant women think they are insulated and not "those women" that this affects.

So, Texas is cool with killing women to prevent them from having dead people removed from their uterus.

Yeah, I am worried.

Why do I care if Texas decides not to accept a bunch of forms of ID and makes it harder to vote?

Exactly.

Who cares?

Serious people stopped reading when you said you are a female trumpet.

You asked why women are not speaking up. You asked why Republican women are not speaking up and I answered you. We don’t see him as a threat to our rights.

Hiw can you not see??? Have you bothered to read Project 2025 and do you realize they are following this like a playbook? What about when you can’t vote because you have a married name don’t have a passport?

Have you considered there are MAGA women that are actually fine with this? Scary thought, but yeah, they’re out there, religion before all else. Educated women in cities tend not to cross paths with those types.

My highly educated lefty girlfriends are all in the city and have one kid between them. I haven’t most of seen them in years. Out in our more pro-MAGA community, women are starting to embrace some radical ideas about diminishing women’s rights. And they have more kids!

Ahhh, women... Can't live with 'em, can't live with 'em.

I posted on the other thread that stupid people should be allowed to vote. I don’t believe in disenfranchisement. I’m never going to say this is worthwhile, even if it garners more Dem votes. Dems are better than MAGA/GOP. Our policies are popular. We don’t need to screw people over to win.

I am getting married next month, and I am not changing my name.

I don't want that barrier if the SAVE act does pass.

Several of my female friends who are getting married in the coming months are doing the same - no name changes.

Other than that, and reaching out to my politicians, I am being mindful of where I spend my money. We aren't vacationing in any red states this year. I'm also a decision maker at work for where we host our big company events (conferences, trainings, etc.), and all red states are out. We used to be comfortable with blue cities within red states (Nashville, Tampa, etc.) but this year and for the foreseeable future, we've gone a full ban on red states.

If we could avoid being duped into nominating 80 year old clowns and instead nominate the Obama/Clinton types, we'd never lose to the pathetic Trump era GOP.

Interesting. Trump ran against a 60yo. But we have fascism because you and others didn’t like the sound of her laugh. But, I know you insist we didn’t nominate her, we only voted for her for VP. I’ll be waiting for more pretzel logic.

But if Texans want these policies, who are we to deny them that right?

Because as of today we are the United States of America. We have rights guaranteed as part of that.

This hysteria and breathlessness “I’m literally shaking” is why no one takes democrats seriously anymore.

PP, are you are waiting for the big moment when the tanks roll into the city to wake up? This is not a movie.

We have seen a consistent eroding of our rights. WAKE UP, for goodness sake. Men, women, children, the red line has been crossed!!!

Tanks? Again, this is why democrats aren’t taken seriously.

And some of us actually lived here when — wait for it — tanks rolled into the city. Troll better. Or at least do some actual research first.

Think a little harder. That 60 yr old was a last minute replacement nominee of a very unpopular elderly incumbent who had his campaign for a second term collapse on him just a few months prior to Election Day. The incumbent party loses 100 times out of 100 in this situation; even against an opponent as weak as Trump. You can try all you want to point fingers at Harris but the 2024 campaign debacle was 100% the fault of Biden and the idiots that supported his nomination in 2020.
