DP. The rules are logical and they exist to benefit the community. If you are feverish, you are likely very contagious. STAY HOME until you are fever free for 24 hours, and then we can keep your disease from spreading exponentially. You choose not to follow this because you think your convenience is more important than your child’s comfort or the community’s well-being. You don’t mind putting others at risk because it doesn’t actually impact you. Why should you care if your kid’s 101 fever in the classroom sends a teacher’s spouse to the ICU? And no, most parents are good members of the community. Those on this thread who send in their sick kids are the minority (thankfully). But they do plenty of damage because of their selfishness. |
You don’t like the rules perhaps you should homeschool? Take your own advice. |
We are using science as our reasoning instead of BS “logic” like you. You just want to find justification for being incredibly selfish and irresponsible. |
| 24 hours without a fever is a waste of a school day. Um, no you should not be out of school for no f'cking reason. Remember all kids deserve an education. |
Yeah. I am definitely going to push for this. I wonder if the reason for the exemption could be something like an invasion of privacy or personal space. |
They do. You are correct. This is why I’ll allow your child to meet with me for extra tutoring, etc. But “no reason”? Keeping the community healthy is a very good reason to stay home. I’m right. You’re wrong. That’s it. |
| Does anyone actually know what happens if your kid returns to school without a fever the day after they were sent home for having a fever? |
You don’t even care about your own kids much less anyone else’s. Truly disgusting. |
For wanting them to go to school with no fever. Yeah. I’m the bad guy. WTF? Fine I picked them up because they have a fever and now the school wants them out the next day even if they don’t have a fever. That’s a wasteful day off. |
We always take a temp. Feverfree 24 hours without medication. Please follow the guidance. |
Staying home for at least 24 hours after a fever subsides, without the use of fever-reducing medications, is recommended to reduce the risk of spreading contagious illnesses, particularly respiratory viruses like the flu. A fever, especially a temperature of 100.4°F (38°C) or higher, is a sign that your child's body is fighting off an infection, which could be contagious. For the past two months, so many students have been out sick. In my own classroom, I have had students with flu, Covid, strep, and norovirus. Several kids have had two of these illnesses simultaneously or had one and then another within days. I have also been out sick with all of the above, plus a sinus infection and bronchitis. I beg you to follow the guidance and keep your child home for the requested timeframe. It’s not fair to the other students and staff who are exposed unnecessarily to these illnesses. As you may already know, it is extremely difficult to obtain substitute teachers. As a result, classes are often split among other classes at the grade level. This is bad for everyone. Please keep your children home until they are fever free without the use of medicine for the 24 hours requested. |
It’s 24 hours fever-free and you know it. And guess what? Your child doesn’t miraculously feel better because the fever is down. So you’re comfortable sending your miserable kid to school? Then I have to stop teaching and tend to your child. And I can’t tell you how bad I feel for the children who are pushed at the school still actively sick. They are miserable and they aren’t learning. The nurse gets involved, we call home, and often the parent takes a long time to come. If they come at all. |

what is wrong with you! it has always been the case that you don't send kids to school with a fever!
dolt! |
wrong |
| Obviously not everyone believes in this rule. Yes out of school during the fever but when the fever is gone - go back. None of this wait 24 hours for nothing. |
