Was Biden trying to invade those countries? Did those countries think the visits were “highly aggressive?”

I support the outrage over Trump’s language around Greenland. But the VP’s wife and child going there is a nothing burger. Why is this thread about them and not the entire US delegation? Every administration spends some amount ofnmoney in a way I find objectionable.

That doesn’t make sense. She’s part of the administration. Put the money aside, we’ve take an aggressive, threatening posture with Greenland. What do you think it means she’s traveling there instead of anywhere else in the world. It’s a big place. She can see dog sledding in Russia, for example.

And the NSA is going. Vance and he kid are just a tag along so the trip can be called cultural

For everyone saying this is no biggie and just a visit to see a dog sled race, that’s not how the Danish authorities see it:

From the WP:

Trump’s national security adviser, Michael Waltz, will also travel to Greenland with the delegation, according to two Danish news outlets, Berlingske and Jyllands-Posten.

That prospect prompted Greenland’s leader to criticize the visit as an “aggressive” trip.
“We are now at a level where it can in no way be characterized as a harmless visit from a politician’s wife,” Prime Minister Mute Egede said to Sermitsiaq, a news outlet in Greenland, according to a translation. “Because what is the security adviser doing in Greenland? The only purpose is to show a demonstration of power to us.”

Because the IS has a military base there (space force!)

I do not care about first and second family member travel. It’s always happened and it should be diplomatic. I do care about her going at all in this specific case, and certainly while dragging a kid, to a country that is telling he not to come because it’s “highly aggressive”. That is not diplomacy. She shouldn’t go. And since there will be strong Anti-American protests in Greenland, she shouldn’t take the kid. That’s just decent parenting.

Usha Vance isn't "treating her kid" to anything. She's dragging a minor to a country we're trying to annex, on the taxpayer's dime, as part of a political stunt.

If Usha's kids want to see the doggies, they should go to Alaska.

Looks like you weren't able to comprehend all the links provided for you, above, showing VP Joe Biden taking his kids (and granddaughter) on MANY, MANY taxpayer funded trips. Bless your heart.

Looks like you're the kind of MAGA clown who thinks pulling a "but but but Biden" into unrelated issues magically erases present-day wrongdoing. It doesn't.

I am not wading into Usha's personal political opinions (she's a friend of friends, and I'm sure has many inner conflicts). But I don't think she had much of a choice there. It was: "Let's have Usha there, with a kid!" and then "Brilliant plan! Usha, you have to do this, it will cut down on accusations of forced conquest".

It’s unreal how much some of you will excuse her.

I’m commenting on what this thread is about: Usha, her kid, and the spend. If you want to change the main topic now, that’s fine. But Im telling you my objection which seems to be different than most of the posters on this thread who just want to complain about Usha.

No. They are props to her.

Was she ordered to go or is she fine with this? Who makes these kinds of decisions about where political spouses travel and what they do? Could she refuse this trip?

It's not a nothingburger at all. After JD whined about pro-Ukraine protesters "scaring" his daughter, this is a setup for political moves. Greenland being anything short of asskissingly accepting of Usha and offspring could easily be used to justify escalating conflict with Denmark to further Trump's plans to steal Greenland.

This. People act like the problem is usha’s travel being expensed and funded by taxpayers. I could give two shits if we already have people going there.

The bigger issue is the political stunt that she is willing to partake in.

This is important but it was also not OP’s objection. That’s the pushback you are seeing.

Sub Usha and kid for any other female US politician/polical spouse and kid and it still reeks. But the fact that JD is such a whiny betch makes it extremely likely that any protest Usha et al. may (rightfully) encounter will be used to justify escalating the conflict with Greenland/Denmark that Trump started and wants.

It doesn't seem like bringing the young child would be the wisest move at this point. This trip is going to haunt that kid and they have no choice in the matter.

Real talk though: wouldn't you take any possible opportunity to get away from JD? I would...

She's shady af, and problematic in her own right, but who wants to hang out with him if it's not absolutely mandatory?

Currently. But it is there at the host nations allowance. Keep pushing and that too will be expelled.
