Usha Vance and child to go on taxpayer funded trip to Greenland

Did you object when Jill went back and forth to Europe to attend Hunter's trial?

It is not fair to mention Joe Biden’s 50-year old child. Children are our future, so that’s not classy. Beyond the pale.

It’s an absolutely disgusting decision, worthy of a 19th century invader nation. We are not the freaking mongols or the Roman Empire. I am in the UK and people have told me that Trump has alienated the rest of the world so greatly in the last 2 months that they think he has ruined our standing and relationships for generations to come. MAGA can say they don’t need allies all they want, but the truth is if it ever comes to America vs everyone else, everyone else will win

Yes, too many people on the other thread trying to excuse her. Now, out of all the places in the world she can take her kid.

She’s evil. Period. The end.

She is taking her child on purpose, as a human shield. She is not a stupid person, quite the opposite. She knows what us going on snd rhat this is far from an innocent visit. She knows people may protest so what’s better than taking a 5or 6 yr old with her, so if people boo her they would look bad. Yes she is totally on board with her husband snd this administration. Power is a big draw and she and her husband made the pact with the devil when JD was running for senate and was down in the polls and behind in the race. They bent the knee to Trump and got his endorsement. Now they are counting on JD to run for president in 2028 (Trump I am sure is planning to run too but the reality is that he is too old) and JD knows power will be his if he stands by Trump. She is as despicable as he is and even more by taking a young kid on a trip she must know well is very problematic and where she may not receive a very warm welcome. A POS like her husband

Or, you know, she wants her child to experience a dog-sled race in Greenland. I actually laughed reading your overwrought, hyperbolic rant. Get over yourself.

Do you feel good about paying for that while they're shutting down SS offices claiming "waste"? I guess you probably do. You probably think taxpayers should pay for your child to experience a dog sled race in Greenland, too.

The rich are amazing in their entitlement.

Why wouldn’t Greenland just deny their visas? Deny them entry. That would send a strong message.

I am fascinated by the level of mental gymnastics and self deception required for you to formulate and post this sentence

I believe Greenland follows the policies of Denmark which is part of the EU and generally accepts tourists for up to 90 days from the USA no questions asked.

That said, with several politicians noting they didn’t ask for Vance and co to visit and wasn’t interested in having them in Greenland, who knows? Maybe they can find some way to deny access…

It’s not waste when Republicans do it. The Trump admin could probably find a dozen probationary workers for a year for what they’re spending to send Usha, her kid and ther secret service agents to Greenland. And she and JD already had a big trip to Germany with all 3 kids where jD did the speech embracing the neo-Nazis just a few weeks ago.

Between this and the Trump kids flying all over the world to grift off their dad’s power and put up hotels, it will be an ethically murky 4 years.

Anonymous wrote:Honestly, I don’t have a problem with this. I actually think it’s a good thing for Presidents and Vice Presidents to do a few warmer fuzzier events involving their family members — as long as those family members are ok with it. The plane was going there anyway, so I’m fine with her and their kid taking seats. I’m saying that in general though, with no idea if this particular trip stands out with red flags in ways that other trips might not.

FWIW, she’s not someone that I have any positive feelings for, but as the VP spouse I think she should be treated like any of the others. It’s an associate that comes with perks.

Aren't all of her kids elementary age? How can a child that age be "okay with it"?

“Do you want to go on a trip? The flight will be X hours. It will be cold. You’ll probably be the only kid there. There may be photographers, and you’ll need to be on your best behavior for some of the events. What do you think? ” Like that.

What elementary school kid wants this? "Want to be mommy's little prop while she goes to a foreign country as Daddy's boss's little prop?" Eww.

That’s one take. There are others.

Decades later I remember being the only kid going with a tour group along with my family on a trip that included several European countries — and tours of a few schools — because my Mom won a grant with an educational focus. I’m glad that I got to go. I remember quite a few highlights, including places that I hoped to visit again as an adult.

FWIW, being “Daddy’s boss’s little prop” on a trip that includes his Mom is not the worst exploitation of a kid that we’ve seen from this administration.

LOL those were just eliminated. Only rich kids travel now.

Greenland visits: Greenland’s prime minister, Mute B. Egede, said a planned trip to the island by senior Trump administration officials this week was “highly aggressive.” Michael Waltz, the national security adviser, and Usha Vance, the second lady, and are among the officials headed to the semiautonomous territory, which President Trump has vowed to make part of the United States “one way or the other.”

Source for this?

DP. I googled this and tons of mainstream media reporting. Google is your friend the next four years.

Was Biden trying to invade those countries? Did those countries think the visits were “highly aggressive?”

I support the outrage over Trump’s language around Greenland. But the VP’s wife and child going there is a nothing burger. Why is this thread about them and not the entire US delegation? Every administration spends some amount ofnmoney in a way I find objectionable.

That doesn’t make sense. She’s part of the administration. Put the money aside, we’ve take an aggressive, threatening posture with Greenland. What do you think it means she’s traveling there instead of anywhere else in the world. It’s a big place. She can see dog sledding in Russia, for example.

They absolutely the f should

This. Countries are going to have to be much more aggressive with DT. Diplomacy isn’t a language he understands.

They absolutely should send a message. They can nicely say that “given the last minute nature of the plans, the current political situation, and ongoing governmental negotiations, now is not an appropriate time for Greenland to host a U.S. Delegation. We will seek another date that is better aligned with Greenland, Denmark, and U.S. schedules.”
